Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyNothing, all good.
Basic accommodation, but had hot water and warm blankets. Room was quite ok. I mean we just stayed there for a short sleep to hike Bromo, perfect for this.

Its really close to bromo, they can organize you a tour or you can go by walk, they wait from me until 11:30 for the check-in and they made more breakfast because I was still hungry and they help me get to Banyuwangi.

Czech RepublicYou can feel strange smell from bathroom and there are no hangers or racks for your cloth. No toilet paper, no soap provided.
Surprisingly good. Owner speaks English and responded quickly for every question sent over messages or WhatsApp. Even we arrived around 23:00 from Tumpak Sewu waterfall, receptionist was waiting for us. Guesthouse is in side street means it was quiet during night. We got extra blanket but it was not needed, original one is thick enough and during night was not less than 17degrees Celsius. Here was sink and big mirror in our King room A (left one), western type toalet and heated shower. We did sunrise hike to Kingkong hill and after this hiked Bromo crater we got nice breakfast - egg toast and tea around 10am. For the price you pay it was very good choice. We did not feel any extra huminidity in room even our wet shoes from waterfall dried during night. Advice for hikers: if you hike often in mountains it is easy hike to King kong hill viewpoint where others go by jeep. It took us only 90min with photostops. We started from accommodation at 4:30am and it was perfectly fine to reach first official viewpoint before sunrise at 5:30. Up to this point whole way is concrete road and is illuminated during night, you dont need torch lamp. Sunrise is not so spectacular as elsewhere but after sun is up, views are amazing. Then go simply down back to village and consult maps.me or mapy.cz for right path down to crater, it is easy and for free.

CanadaThe place does get cold (compared to probolinggo at least) so make sure to layer up at night.
The place was clean and so close to bromo. Great value for the price. Clean and had hot water which is really good for that far up in the mountain. The owners were incredibly helpful getting us up to the town (which can be a headache) and the free breakfast was adequate.

Czech RepublicOk let’s start: all my luggage got very humid, there’s no mirror in the bathroom and the water didn’t work as well. Imagine no shower after long hiking 🥾😂 Very very very VERY cold place we were literally wearing all our clothes and that wasn’t enough haha Funny smell.
I liked to have a roof on top of my head during the rain. Staff very very sweet and proactive even though the language barrier is there. Nothing Google translator can’t fix tho! 😆🫶 The guy gave us extra blankets and we could check in at 2am that was amazing

HungaryThe hot water didn’t always work and the watertank got empty at some point, but the staff quickly managed to fill it up again. No sink in the room, but that’s ok.
The location is great, very close to the entrance of the national park, with a few minutes walking you can see the whole Bromo complex. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly.

BelgiumThe breakfast was bad. The water is either cold or burning so basically impossible to take a good shower. The water pressure is very low. No toilet paper, no soap/shower gel. The room is cold so you will need extra cloth (the bed sheets are not enough at night).
Excellent location near Bromo. You can do the sunrise/caldera without paying the entrance fee (ask the receptionist or use maps.me). The hotel proposes transportation services. The receptionist is very kind.

FranceThere was no tap in the bathroom, only a fixed shower. The only way to brush our teeth was by using the shower which was not practical. The toilets were not clean. The room could use an additional light, it was pretty dark.

Close to Mt. Bromo. Clean room. Breakfast is included. Staff members provided tea, coffee, and water. Wifi is sometimes spotty. The room we stayed in had 1 electrical outlet (get creative about charging your tech!). But Bromo B&B is a good location to get you up to Mt. Bromo and King Kong Hill. Great for a short visit. Don't forget your warm clothes, ear plugs, and eye mask!

ItalyThe place was not very clean and the bathroom is a nightmare: no towels, no sink, no hot water to take a shower after the mount bromo hike. For the same price in Indonesia we’ve been in far better places, but I guess you can’t find much better in the area (we meet people from other homestays, same experience)
The location is perfect for exploring the mount bromo without taking any other transportation. You just wake up at 3 and start walking to see the sunrise. There are a few points where you can find food and a small restaurant nearby. The room was ok and the price include a (weird) breakfast consisting in eggs, toast and french fries

United KingdomIt’s basic but you get what you pay for!
This is a basic property but equally it’s very good value for money! The beds are comfy and duvet is warm which is needed up there. There was running water and ample space in the room. We had a great sleep there before hiking up to King Kong hill. Even borrowed at coat for 30K for the hike! Great service and would stay again if we were doing Bromo.

SwitzerlandBe ready that it's a very basic apartment. There is only a bed, shower and toilet. No towels, no soap or shampoo. The shower is not cleaned, I'm not sure about the bed sheets... In the night there was no water and in the morning no electricity (but I'm not sure if it's a problem of the whole village or only this homestay).
The location is super. Convenient to go to the volcano as well as on the sunrise point. The breakfast was also good. There is a kitchen where you can get hot water. You can contact the owner if you need a private car to get there or in your next destination. The price is fair.
