Although Grab is super easy to get, it takes some time and is a bit costly to travel to the central area. But that also provides peace and authenticity:)

Vico and his wife are the best hosts I've had during my 6-month trip! They're great to chat with, always within reach and offering help from bookings to trips even in the next destinations. There's a homey, comfortable social atmosphere, delicious also vegetarian food options (for a good price), and great tour deals. I joined their Mt Batur and waterfall trips, both of which were great. As the place isn't that big, it's also peaceful to sleep.

This is such a great Homestay! The owners are the most amazing people and the location is very green and quiet which I loved! The tour I organised with them was perfect. Definitely recommend staying here and I hope to be back soon!

It's a bit far from the center, so it can be a hassle to move around although it's not a big deal. The neighbor's rooster constantly crows from very early in the morning, disrupting sleep. Maybe they should leave the doors of the property closed in the early hours, as they sneak into the property to eat and thus get louder.

Great and friendly owners. Clean hostel with tasty food, in a calm neighborhood. I absolutely recommend it.

This has been a true highlight of the last few months travelling. They have been extremely helpful in helping me get a tour of Bromo, Ijen and Tumpak Sewu waterfall in the time I had available, contact multiple hostels and companies to ensure it would work. They have also set up picks ups and drop offs in Ijen so no effort is required, leaving you to enjoy the trip! The homestay itself is in a perfect location, away from the house of the centre to ensure you have a restful stay whilst also being close enough to the city to easily access it through Grab or bike hire (they have several suggestions for you). Rooms are clean with private beds (curtains), with free tea and coffee available. There is a hot shower and toilet which are both clean. Food offered is also delicious, with fresh fruit grown in their garden offered with each meal. It’s an extremely welcoming environment and they are wonderful people to talk to and learn about Java and Indonesia itself. I can’t recommend this homestay enough, a wonderful experience- thank you again!

Water pressure in the showers wasn’t that good.

Amazing staff, thank you Vico! He was very helpful, super friendly and loyal, his whole family is super nice. I had the best time in Malang. I also enjoyed their food so much.

Perfect place for a quiet stay outside of the Madness of the city. Amazing host family, they helped with anything you needed and i could book the BEST tours there for a good price. Very delicious food. I needed to work there while i stayed there and i was able to work without issues. Its quiet and the wifi works well. All in all, perfect place!

This is a fantastic hostel and experience. It is basic and outside of town center, but that makes it way better than other options (you don't want to stay in Malang center). Beds are comfy and private. Included breakfast is hearty healthy and delicious. They arrange all the tours (Bromo, Sewu, etc) at great comparative rates. Best of all, the hosts are phenomenal!.. Helpful, happy, engaging, and will do whatever it takes to make your stay and experience in the area as awesome as possible. Highly recommend staying here!

staff/family were so friendly and helpful, food was delicious, and the tours were the BEST. the tours (tumpak sewu waterfall, mount bromo and ijen) are designed well for beating the crowds and getting the best views! i highly recommend booking your accommodation and tours with Vico and his family.

Maybee the cheapest class train to Ijen because I could not sleep, but I guess you can just ask Vico to book the more expensive class and pay a bit more, so I would recommend that.

I just loved it! Vico and his whole family are soooo welcoming and kind. The hostel is small and cute, with a lovely little garden where you can have breakfast and dinner. The food is soooo good, I had nasi goreng one time for breakfast and it was the best! Also not too spicy which was great for me haha. If you dont expect a Hotel with super clean flors and extravagant rooms you will love it - If you do then look in a different price range. This was totally fair value for price. The Hostel is a bit far from Malang, but you can get a cheap grap. And I didn't mind because I only stayed for two nights and then went on the waterfall, Bromo and Ijen Tour, organised from this hostel. The Tour was so great, one of my highlights during traveling so far. The Guides were friendly and kind and it was really well organised. Realy recommend this hostel and tour. But IT was a little bit exausting because you get up so early and don't have that much sleep, so I would recommend do the waterfall and bromo, then Rest a day at the beautiful Hostel and do Ijen one day later. But you can just ask, they are so flexible they will arrange the tour to your needs. Loved it, I would come back! My favorite Hostel so far.

Having to leave

I highly recommend this hostel to any travellers who want a fun and authentic experience in Malang. We stayed for 3 nights and were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and Vico greeted us at 7am after our overnight train. Vico and his wife are the most wonderful hosts, we really enjoyed getting to know them and eating their delicious food. They also arranged for us a tour to Mt Bromo, airport transfer and a one day tour of the sights around Malang which took us to a beautiful tea plantation, temple and pine forest where we saw no other tourists the whole day. The location is in a rural area just outside of the city centre which is really lovely and it’s easy to get a Grab or Gojek around. If every hostel was this good, travelling would be easy 😆

It is a bit far from the city centre but with a taxi or grap is really doable.

The hostel is amazing and especially the owners. They are so helpful and kind. A big plus is that they organize the tours by themselves. They don't work with an agency and that makes the experience so much better. The whole tour is managed by people from the neighbourhood and makes the experience amazing. I highly recommend this place, the people and the tours.

Roosters and the fact that the hostel is close to the road made it a bit loud sometimes, especially if you need to sleep during the day.

Vico and his family were so lovely and welcoming we could not ask for better hosts! They really make you feel at home here and have delicious free breakfast. The tours to Mount Bromo and Tumpak Sewu waterfall were easy to organise and ran smoothly without any problems.
