Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThe room is a bit hot, although the AC is on, it’s not really going through the mosquito net. Apart from the excursion to the Ijen or chilling at the homestay, there isn’t much to do in Banyuwangi.
The staff was extremely friendly! They would help us out for excursion, day to day questions, cultural questions, etc. The place is really nice, the fool, the chilling area, the shared kitchen. It’s a real place to rest and meet other people as well. There are a lot of lovely and funny touches a bit everywhere at the homestay. Breakfast is nice and very cheap, Indonesian or continental. They organise trips to Ijen between 450 and 500k IDR. The room is nice and charming. Hot water in the shower. There’s a mosquito net in the room, which is very nice !

We loved our stay at Didu’s. We stayed here for 3 nights and they kindly helped us with everything. The pool is very nice and the rooms are clean and cosy. The breakfast was the best part, we ordered 3 dishes with the two of us so we could share it all. Nasi, pancakes, waffles, toast and eggs. And it always came with delicious fruit (non Bali Belly proof) and a smoothie. Loved the staff! We can recommend it to anyone.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like! Although they only had scooters for city use, and these were not suitable to get as far as Ijen Crater but we just rented ones from outside train station instead.
We LOVED our stay here. The bungalow was clean and so comfortable (one of the comfiest beds I’ve slept in on our travels) and on site, there is a communal kitchen area and a living area, and a pool. It felt so homely and just such great value for money! Love that there was a refillable water bottle and shower was great. Really great location too, just a short walk from the train station. The breakfast was absolutely delicious too! Their motto is a home away from home and it really did feel like this.

AustraliaNothing really...shower wasn't really hot but this was a bonus in reality
They combine private bungalows with common shared areas very well, giving you the best of both. Staff couldn't be more helpful, from picking us up at ferry to recommending local points of interest. This is a must stay when passing through this area

IndonesiaNothing. Everything was just perfect!
From our first second at the homestay, we got strikes by the beauty of the homestay and the calming smell of incense, and obviously fell in love! Absolutely gorgeous property with all the amenities you need (cute & relaxing kitchen with coffee/tea, nice little rest area, hammocks and books, as well as a fun pool with a super relaxing area). As for the room, the bed is so comfy. The tasty and colourful breakfast was real magic. It’s an amazing place to be after your trip to Ijen. We spent the day there and I truly already miss it. Maya and all the other employees are fantastic! So sweet and helpful. My favorite place Ive ever been to. EVER!

Germany-
Wonderful place and wonderful people. We stayed at Didus homestay for one night and also booked the Ijen tour with them. One of the best decisions of our whole vacation. The homestay deserves this name, because you will for sure feel home and welcomed. They provide a cosy common area with kitchen, „living room“, pool… there is a little shop where you can get all you need, a fridge with self-service and a list to track your consumption (drink now - pay later). Everything is decorated with love and everyone who works there is incredibly heartwarming. You can tell they love what they are doing. The rooms/houses are so comfortable. The beds are exactly what you need to prepare for or rest after a tour that starts at midnight. The tour to Ijen was perfect. They prepared a snack-package for us, masks, warm jackets (about 10k each), a driver and a guide (Toulouse was the best guide! He had the best mood, was funny, helpful, excellent english and made sure everyone at Ijen had a good time while respecting the sulfur-workers and property.). We got our breakfast after the tour. They had a driver to pick us up from the airport and drop us off at the train station. They just made sure everything was perfekt and we would have the best time possible.

United StatesMaya is a great host and so are her team members. It’s absolutely peaceful allowing one to read/meditate and relax. We stayed 3 nights and also did Ijen tour with them. The tour was great as well and our guide was even more amazing. I also rented scooter to check out the city which had plenty of amazing food options. Highly recommend staying here for more than just 1 night.

ItalyThe amazing and quiet surroundings, Maya' s kindness, and the super helpful staff are just some of the reasons why you should stay here. We stayed two nights and they were restoring, we got off the train, early in the morning and they allowed us to use the common area and rest there till check in time. They helped us organise a private Ijen tour and order dinner every day. The ladies at reception are friendly, helpful and always with a smile on their face. Our room was clean and spacious. We loved the peace and silence and recharged our batteries. Breakfast was good and the food we ordered for dinner as well. Highly recommended!!

GermanyThere are quite a few bugs because of all the plants so you have to be okay with this. It’s still remarkably bug-free despite this.
Simply beautiful backyard with lots of plants and a swimming pool. The backyard is the entrance to your mini bungalow with semi-outdoor (but still private) shower. Very friendly hosts that helped us with everything we wanted and gave good recommendations. Very easy to reach from the train station plus they offered a pickup service for free. Breakfast was also very nice.
