Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandSpent 3 nights here. Did not had much sleep as the curtains were not fully covered window and the toilet and shower glass made it worse. The pool is nice and the rice field next to the guesthouse is good. I didn’t have any breakfast nor seen anyone eating here at all, so I am not sure how come other comments on great food!?!? Anyhow, there is a small restaurant at the front but I barely meet any staff through out the day. During my stay for 3 nights, the room was not even clean once and there were so many gecko poops on the floor :( My room doesn’t have a balcony, so after my surf session I have no place to hang my wet clothes. The good thing is there is a small fridge in the room and they provided 2 small bottles upon arrival. The location is good if you are not planning to go anywhere but just to surfing on the beach or walk to a nearby cafe. But if you want to go to Canggu or Seminyak, you would need to rent the motobike for 80k per day which is reasonable, but they don’t have a cell phone holder!! So it would be challenging if you don’t know your way around! I decided to grab one day to Canggu and it’s only 39k , so a round trip is pretty much the same as renting a motorcycle!

Australia- A/C not working! No Fan and lots of bugs so I couldn't open the door. What's worst than staying in a humid, stuffy, hot room in South East Asia? We felt like we are going to have a heat stroke. - Room is super dark. I am talking about couldn't even see the toiletries when I shower, and couldn't see what's in my luggage when I pack my bags. - SO many bugs. - Dirty linens with black stains. - Ongoing overnight construction right outside of your room. - The "security" would ask for entrance fee for the sunset beach when you were on the way to this place. You have to tell them you are staying in this place instead of visiting the beach, so he would waive your fee.
- Cheap. The price is unbeatable. And that reflected quality. - Rather close to Tanah Lot, but difficult for driver to find this place too. - Staff were friendly, helped us with our luggage.

IrelandIt didn't look like in the pictures. It was old, broken, shabby, dirty. There was a building site on the premises which went on all day and until late at night. No privacy. Lots of noise.
The staff were very nice.

MaltaThe place is run down. I stayed in 3 different rooms, all had various insects, such as huntsman spiders, normal spiders, ants, flies and mosquitos, as the rooms are not well-sealed. Curtains were very dirty and outside cushioning all looked really unsanitary. The worst thing was that there was construction on both sides of the property, starting early morning, going on till late at night, evennon Sunday. It wasn't super loud, but it was uncomfortable to have men staring at me at the pool area. On top of that, the villas themselves were having refurbishment near the pool.
The staff were the best. Super helpful and sweet. I also loved the pool. The location was perfect for me, as i wanted to be away from the crowds, but near the beach and good places to eat. The rice fields were great, and Tanah Lot just a 10 min walk away through the rice fields.

IndonesiaThere were ants in the room, it is quite far away from everywhere by foot and the taxi is quite expensive. There in no breakfast included and the one you can buy isn't great (no different coffee options). The humidity in the room is too much, we had to leave the door open often (although we have ac on...) so that it wouldn't stink too much
Big room, big bed and nice shower! The swimming pool is great too 🙃

United StatesWe got a room at the end of the unit. It's very far to get there. If you forgot something walk back to the room quite long. I don't like it. And no breeze and got super warm in the room. We have to run AC for 24 hours. The last thing, no privacy at all. We have to close the curtain all day to have privacy.
The location is pretty good. It's walking distance to the beach.

United KingdomIt wasn’t a problem for me as I knew to book the renovated rooms. Just be aware that it is very fairly priced for the older rooms needing redecoration so be understanding at around £20 pn, a bit of flaking paint, sticky door lock etc is not justified in giving a poor review for such a good price. If it matters, then pay a bit extra for the newer rooms.
I am here to surf and want a location away from the touristy areas with little else there but your bed, the waves and the lovely local people. The most currently renovated rooms are perfect for me. Make a point of booking the balcony room. It is very good value for money as some of the older rooms are becoming in need of renovating.

Indonesiaunfortunately the room wasn’t nice at all, first there was no water, the toilet gets flooded whenever it rains. The wifi was a nightmare and the room has a serious mold problem. I think previously it was a really nice place but probably not maintained during covid. also they were renovating some rooms, so there was construction noise.

United KingdomThe photos do not represent the accommodation. The hotel is very run-down. The bathroom was dirty and smelled of drains. The pool was filthy and the descriptions of the accommodation are not accurate. Our room was described as a 2 storey villa. It was a room with attached bathroom with steps outside that go up to a roof terrace. The steps were broken and the space was unkempt and unusable. We booked for 3 nights arriving late in the evening. There was no breakfast available and we left early the next morning after a very stressful phone call to the manager who wanted us to pay for the 3 nights. Booking.com were very helpful in sorting this issue and we only had to pay for the first night.
