Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaWe had a very enjoyable 4 night stay, from May 5 (the weather was good, only had a bit of rain one afternoon). Ika and Yani were very hospitable hosts. The homestay only has 3 rooms - to maintain a family like atmosphere. The location was quite convenient, only a few minutes to the entrance to Borobudur temple park, about 10+ minutes walk from the bus terminal, lots of food stalls nearby along the main street. The double bed was comfortable, wifi strong, the air con and shower were good. The garden surrounding the courtyard provided a relaxing setting. Ika provided prompt responses to our early inquiries regarding buses, etc. to Borobudur from Yogyakarta airport (we were able to catch a big DAMRI bus directly from YIA airport, every 2 hrs, IDR 100K) and from Borobudur to Yogyakarta (we caught a DAMRI minibus to Yogyakarta to Malioboro St (to Bank of Indonesia (B.I.), IDR 20K). Ika drove us to the bus terminal. We had a choice of western or local breakfasts. Since we stayed so many nights, Ika provided us with bicycles for free. (If you cycle out past the junction for Punthuk Setumbu to the next junction and turn right and cycle for a bit you can see Borobudur temple from a distance through the rice fields, and a bit further still towards the pottery viilage you can see Merapi volcano if the sky is clear or the clouds clear later in the afternoon). All in all, we would stay again.

The best part of Efata Homestay cannot be seen in any photo or description. It is the big heart and the great hospitality of the hosts. It was a great stay with a very clean room and we would have loved to stay longer. I recommend everyone to stay several nights and also to explore the area. I can only recommend the accommodation to anyone who would like to stay in a lovely, authentic homestay.

GermanyI had a wonderful stay at Efata Homestay and highly recommend this place. The room was nice and clean and nextdoor you find everything you need, like restaurants or a supermarket. Also the Borobudur temple is very close, you can walk there. What the stay makes it really special to me was Ika and Yani, they are lovely hosts. If you have any question they’ll help you. They gave me so many good advices and they even drove me to places around, like the coconut sugar place. Yani‘s breakfast was also very delicious. So if you come to Borobudur, stay at Efata Homestay.

Efata Homestay is located very close to the entrance of Borobudur. The house is in the busy area but very quiet inside. There are restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It's both safe and convenient. The hosts are a couple called Ika and Yani. They are so kind, friendly and considerate. Before I arrived, they had already sent me some basic information via messages. For example, they told me how to get to the homestay from the airport and reminded me to book my Borobudur ticket earlier. There is a very beautiful and comfortable garden here. The room is clean. Wifi is fast and stable. I extended my stay here for a total of 5 days because I enjoy my time here. The delicious local breakfast prepared by Yani is something I look forward to every day. I feel like I am at home and they are my family:)

United StatesThe main negative is the call to worship at the very nearby Mosque at 4:30am. The frogs in the area were pretty loud overnight. I would suggest having earplugs with you.
We loved the owners the most. Our host Ika and Yanni were so kind and Ika really helped out alot. They made us feel welcome and comfortable. The location is hard to beat as it was just a couple of blocks from the Main entrance. The made a delicious breakfast in the morning and when I asked for hot water, it was provided, no problem. The room is simple but has good a/c and a nice and hot shower.

Ika und Yanni are exceptionally nice people and made my stay truly memorable. They helped me with everything. Ika even accompanied me to the temple and gave me some first-hand information. Moreover he did a bicycle tour with me and showed me a mushroom and honey manufacture and also took me on his motorbike to Candi Mendut. The breakfast was delicious and every afternoon I got coffee and sweets. The homestay is in walking distance to the temple and city centre.

A small-scale homestay with lots of personal attention and time for exchange. Even before my arrival, I had smooth contact with Ika and indicated that I would like to take a cycling tour in the area. The day after my arrival he gave me a wonderful and unforgettable tour and we visited a tofu maker and pottery, among other things. The nature in the area is breathtakingly beautiful. And I got a lot of tips, also when I went to visit Borobudur, which is really close to walk to. They really do everything to give you an unforgettable time. The garden is very nice to stay and relax and I really relaxed. The breakfast is delicious and Yani gets a delicious local snack to enjoy early in the morning. I could go on and on about all the hospitality I experienced here during the 3 nights I stayed here. Thanks to Ika & Yani for their good care.❤️🙏🏽

Czech RepublicThis is one of the best accomodation in our trip in Java. Host are super friendly and kind. Very good breakfast included. Room is very nice, modern, and superclean! But the best is absolutely perfect garden, where you can spend time at the terrace. Hot water all day. It's a few minutes to entrance to Borobudur.

Ika and Yani were perfect hosts. The room was comfortable, the garden relaxing and breakfast great. Both of them could not do enough for us.. Ika's help with booking our trip to Borobudur was truly valuable and made the whole trip that much more enjoyable. His local tour on bikes was insightful and great fun. MalaysiaThe moment we stepped into the compound, the host Ika already waited at the gazebo next to the gate, welcomed us with warm smile and help us with the luggages. The host both Ika and Yani are very friendly yet professional in handling the guest. Children like this homestay environment so much. The host made sure they serve varieties of local delicacies and fruits for breakfast everyday during our stay. The location is very near Borobudur Temple and there are plenty of eateries surrounding the premise. In the evening the premise is quiet and peaceful. The garden juxtaposed with the landscape ambient lighting give a sense of tranquil and we like to sit at the terrace in front of the room while enjoying the green. More than expexted, Ika who own a car also bring us to local pottery villages for children to enjoy some traditional arts and crafts. All in all, I must say that the owner has attention to detail and care that make our stay here feel very much like a home.

They have a map prepared for you, as well as a list of places to visit nearby and where to eat. They are willing to explain everything to you and even lend you bikes. I must especially appreciate that they were helpful in our more complicated situation. Nothing was a problem. I would come back here right away. The breakfast was excellent. JapanI think if there is a shower curtain between the shower and the toilet, the toilet will not get wet. It will be easier for foreigners to use.
I have used many hotels until now. This homestay was the best I have ever been treated to. I achieved all of my goals during my stay. The staff responded to my requests in a timely and cost effective manner. I highly recommend Borbodour. However, I would be in trouble if I could no longer use it.

We did a night before Borobudur near the temple itself to avoid a day of 'tours' and travelling to see the temple, and it was a great decision because of our stay at Efata. Pre-stay communication was very useful as we would have otherwise not known we would have to pre-book tickets. On arrival, the family were incredibly kind and hospitable with lots of recommendations about what to do. Good room and great value for money. Super tasty breakfast too. Overall, a fantastic stay with a lovely local family. Cannot recommend enough!
