Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyFantastic place with really nice staff and cozy rooms. You will share the room with geckos, and the view from the balcony into the jungle is fantastic. Monkeys will come by, so watch your bananas! We can absolutely recommend the 2 day 1 night jungle trek, our guides Iman and Jerry did everything to leave us with unforgettable impressions. If possible, the hotel will postpone your booked night in the hotel for when you come back from the night in the jungle. Very convenient!

United KingdomBreakfast was small and a bit disappointing. It's a shame they charge for water refill where in most places we've stayed it's free. Shower had no pressure at all was just a cold dribble, no soap etc.
Nice aesthetic, in a good location. Really helpful staff eg giving me a lift into town to the pharmacy. They found us a fan for the room when we asked for one. Overall fine just felt like a budget accommodation.

NetherlandsThere was nothing wrong about Garden Inn. We loved everything. If you are thinking about going to Tangkahan; we would not recommend it. The people there need more education about dealing with elephants.
This place has been beyond expectations! It was amazing! We saw 8 (!!) orang oetangs on a day trekking. Also one across the river from Garden inn. The people from Garden Inn are a 11/10. They are very friendly and helpfull. The room was even better than expected: clean, nice balcony, good bed. The food at the restaurant was also very delicious! If we had to do it all again, we would definitly choose Garden Inn again. THANK YOU!

IndonesiaIf there is no wind, it is sometimes humid and hot. Don't let monkeys enter the room.
It was convenient to be picked up by bike from the parking lot. The hotel is right next to the valley, so you can hear the sound of the water loudly. I only booked a hotel, but it was nice that they also included jungle trekking. Also, guide Marwan prepared delicious nasi goreng and we really enjoyed it. Be careful of your tailbone when tube rafting.

AustraliaMenu could perhaps be a little more adventurous .
Without a doubt this is the best venue to stay in Bukit Lawang. There is great pride taken in their magnificent garden and the rooms are like being in the jungle itself. The staff are incredibly polite and accommodating and the location is in the quieter end of town which is nice. From the beautiful balcony of our room we managed to see orangutans on two days and hornbills on another which was very special. We love the place and definitely want to stay again!

United KingdomThe only downside (though it's not the Garden Inn's fault) was there was sometimes loud live music from one of the neighbouring restaurants, when I'm sure most guests just want to enjoy the natural sounds of the river and the jungle. I think the loud music is something that needs to be addressed in Bukit Lawang generally (maybe just accoustic guitars instead of amps and microphones?)
+ Really friendly and helpful staff. + Beautiful view of the jungle and river from the balcony. At one point I saw orangutans while lying in my hammock! + Lovely area with lots of small restaurants nearby but still feeling like you're right in the jungle. Just an idyllic spot. .+ Very close to a good spot for taking a dip in the river. + Beautiful gardens with lots of flowers, birds and butterflies. + Jungle trek was amazing. I did the one-day trek and we saw lots of wildlife, including 4 orangutans. Our guide Ahmad and his assistant Jerry were brilliant.

AustraliaMosquito net had some holes in it. Pesky buggers got in and got my son good.
Beautiful location. Orang-utans viewed across the river from the accommodation. Literally, sitting on the balcony and watching them in the trees. Staff were great. Very helpful and easy going. Arranged jungle trek through Garden Inn. Thanks Penn. BIG special thanks to Juri, Rudi and Maui. These absolute legends took us on our jungle trek and really went above and beyond. My mum (mid 60s) and my kids (15 and 11) were incredibly well looked after. Mum even got a leg massage before bed! We found lots of different wild life and really couldn't have asked for more. Good blokes. Thanks boys.

AustraliaWater can be a bit cold in the morning, however is very refreshing after a walk through the jungle.
The location was beautiful. The Staff and surrounding locals were very welcoming. Rooms had stunning views of the river. The jungle Treck is worth having a look at. The Hotel can book a tour through the jungle along with an experienced, well spoken tour guide (We had Joni). Experienced a one on one encounter with an orangutang. Had lunch in the jungle that the excellent hotel staff provided for us (Lunch is included) and finnished it off with a ride down the river on a raft. P.S the monkeys in the morning can get curious so make sure you don’t leave anything out they can get their little hands on 👍
