Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Germanythere's nothing to say here.
We have to thank so much for the hospitality, the 'lecker' food and the great absolutely clean and comfortable room/bungalow. To go on djungle tour just for even one day with Jack was really worth all the money as he taught and showed us lots of things, especially orangutans, which actually live in the tree tops due to being afraid of carnivore roaming around like tigers. On Borneo they are living more on the ground, probably because there are no tigers... Things you don't really need to know, but to show off with at anytime, haha. Jack's singing of Shanties on the rafting tour at the end was very entertaining! After reading the reviews here one more thing: If you feel bothered by a muezzin's voice in the morning, don't travel to a country with a Muslim majority!!

NetherlandsEverything is great
Good food. Gino’s mother ‘Nana’ and her daughter are fantastic cooks! Bungalow is fantastic, surrounding as well- rice fields Taxi back to Medan we can definitely recommend. But what really made our trip was a one or two night jungle tracking with Jack!! Assisted by Abi and Alberto (cooks great jungle dinners and provides the most exotic fruit). JACK is a true entertainer, he can tell a lot about the jungle, the environment, the OrangUtans, monkeys. Birds, the history, he genuinely takes care of you (makes you feel safe), he plays in a band, brings his guitar to the resort for a great vibe, has a fantastic voice. We saw many Orangutans! If you decide to go for jungle tracking, ask for Jack! 2 nights is enough.

AustraliaYou only get a bedsheet to cover yourself, there is no proper blanket - but that's nothing serious.
We had a really nice stay in gino's place anf a great one day jungle tour. There is nothing to complain about and I would definitely recommend it. They speak good english and try to help with all questions. jungle tours are possible from one day to multi-day tours - everything according to the wishes of the guest. The animals are not fed at this provider (unfortunately this still exists at other providers). The food for you on the tour is plentiful, so that everyone is more than full. We had Jack as a guide and would do it again and again with him. He explained a lot and took very good care of us. We were a bit battered and if we needed a break it was fine for him. He gave us the time we needed. So if you are in bukit lawang, sleep here and get a tour organized with Jack :)

United KingdomThe water supply for the whole town is questionable - water for our loo, shower and basin was extracted from the aquaduct that everyone washes dishes/clothes in, bathes and dumps their rubbish into, so it wasn't as clean as the water we had at the top of town. The shower had hot water briefly, but mostly (like all the other places we stayed) it was ambient temperature.
The bungalow was a good size, with a nice sideboard for our clothes, and the aircon was a welcome luxury for us to acclimatise to the heat. I was travelling with my daughter and the ability to book a twin room was very helpful to us. The location was good for us as we were visiting family at the south end of town, but it was only a 25 minute walk along the aquaduct to the tourist centre of Bukit Lawang. The cafe area was open all the time we needed it and served all the essentials we needed. We moved to a couple of different hotels during our 3 week stay and chose to come back to Gino's as it was the best place overall.

IrelandNothing, it was a great experience!
as we arrived at Gino’s from Medan airport, a transport they helped organise, we were greeted by smiling faces and good energy from all the staff at the guesthouse. The room was brilliant, very comfortable bed, very clean and great facilities in the room. The food from the resteraunt was delicious and all cooked by Mama. We took a 1 day jungle trek option with Jackar as our guide who was super informative about the jungle and he was brilliant and we seen 3 orangutans and plenty of other wildlife, later on that evening he got his guitar out and we sang some songs and had a great time along with the rest of the boys in the family. such a welcoming experience and something we will never forget!

United KingdomWe could not recommend staying here enough! Me and my friend came to Bukit Lawang to see the orangutans and we feel we really lucked out with this property. We were arrived late and were welcomed with a complimentary drink, the room was clean with a lovely bathroom. We ate the most incredible food cooked by the hotel owner which was so fresh! BelgiumThe location is a bit outside of Bukit Lawang village, in the middle of rice fields. The bungalows and garden have beautiful view. The room was spacious, clean and the beds very comfortable. For our 7yr old son there was an extra bed placed in our room. Breakfast was good. We could choose Indonesian and western food. Our son loved the pancakes! We did a jungle trek, arranged by the owners. Amazing experience.

Nice and spacious bungalows, beds are very comfortable. It's clean and the AC is a big plus. Pretty views and nice people. Breakfast is a choice from the menu, which is fine for the money paid. Staff helped arrange our jungle trek and transportation. They were also kind enough to drop us off by motorbike to the nearest convenience store and market.

United StatesThis place was kind of average. Nothing great, and nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding. We stayed in another place as well which was much more interesting and entertaining.
This is a beautiful place to do tracking. Even though we didn’t go tracking, we stayed for a couple nights with and without electricity and Wi-Fi so that’s a minus. The food was nothing special, but edible. The people were nice enough, but I think there are other places around where you can get a little more interesting environment in terms of service.
