Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe bathroom wasn’t 100% clean, but still acceptable.
Such a cute hostel! You have a little private room, 2 shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen. There is a chill area inside and outside (hammocks). The host is very friendly and helpful. He offers you drivers, give you tips for spots,... In the area around the hostel is a pretty cool street with nice restaurants (could recommend viavia and toscana warung) All in all theres a beautiful atmosphere in the hostel and the area, we loved our stay :)

GermanyThis place is just beautiful! All the interior is made with a lot of love and is very arty. I felt good straight from the beginning. But it is even getting better: the welcoming hosts, Luppa and Ardi, help you with everything. They have a lot of knowledge about the area and Indonesia in general and are always happy to chat with you. Highly recommended! Terima kasih 🙏🏼

IndonesiaIt would be better if the private room also provided with toiletteries.
It is so homeeyy!!! And the environment also so tranquille, yet its location is so strategic. The host is very helpful and friendly, thou he didn't stay at the hostel all the time but all the basic needs provided at the hostel for the guest. I definitely would stay here again if I come to Jogja later on.

IndonesiaThis place should be called the Happy Mohamed. The hostel is right next to a mosque which plays an amplified call to prayer at an obnoxiously early hour at an obnoxiously loud volume, so you will be awake at 4am every day. We left after the first night because of the intolerable noise. Of course, the Happy Buddha was happy to keep several days' rent. No refunds for those who don't want to be woken every day by the noise of the call to prayer.
Friendly staff

NetherlandsIt was very hot in the room, maybe leave open the door before arrival of the guest so that the temperature is at least equal to the temperature in the rest of the place.
Host is very friendly. I had a midnight train and could chill at the place until leaving for the train.

Indonesia1. Security, there's no standby staff at night. 2. Extra bed for children is unsuitable for use. 3. All of the lights in public spaces are turned off at night so we need to memorize the light switches in order to turn it on in the morning cz we did it by ourselves.
Strategic location and homey atmosphere.

AustraliaDefinitely the kitchen area, particularly the sink. I was a bit daunted when I was leaving to go out and the table was full of Arti’s friends. Of course, he can have his friends visit him, but it felt awkward to me that I there was no room for me as a guest to sit. As the hostel doesn’t provide breakfast, it would have been great to have someone list of restaurants that are open early.
The location in that the hostel is one street back from the restaurant strip, is great. However, the proximity to the mosque is problematic if you want a good night’s sleep. I was provided with ear plugs, but they made little difference. This is part of life in a Muslim country and I’m used to it but I’ve never been quite so close to a mosque before. My room was comfortable and the shower was great. The wifi was patchy at times. The shared kitchen definitely could have been cleaner but I appreciated being able to make hot or cold drinks. Other reviews have raved about Arti, but I barely saw him. When I needed some help, another guest was able to assist me and I booked my tours myself on line. The small garden is pleasant and the decoration is very nice.

United StatesBed was as hard as a rock; En-suite bathroom had a funky smell to it.
Great location; friendly staff; well-kept public spaces; overall quite clean. Major bonus points for having drinking water available for free.

Czech RepublicBe prepared for the early morning prayers to be heard from the mosque nearby:) But it was not something which would make a problem for us, it forms a part of the Javanese culture.
Perfect location , close to the main Prawirotaman street but hidden in one of the little adjacent streets. Very nicely and tastefully decorated, clean with pleasant easy going hostel atmosphere. The hosts are super nice and can organise also various activities.
