How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Just incredible place with the best service ever! I’ll definitely stay here again! It was such a pleasure.. and honestly, the comfort level here is much higher than at any other hostel I’ve stayed in my life. Grateful to the people who are working there

they should clearly mention that it has Non AC dorms to avoid negative reviews

This hostel was incredible, the beds are so comfy, the warm shower just fell amazing, the host really nice, literally nothing bad to say And the fact that we’re helping an orphanage by staying there is just amazing

No real complaints, the fan only oscillates no option to stop it turning and with the room being so hot it wasn’t overly helpful in keeping cool. the mattress in the double room is not comfortable, you can feel all the springs when you lay on it, both sides are gone and so it needs replacing.
Ahmed is a wonderful host, friendly, helpful, polite. It was a pleasure to stay here, I didn’t actually realise but they have an orphanage attached and you can eat with the kids, I had plans most days and evenings so missed out, to be fair it was stated on the menu so it’s my fault for not paying attention 😂

The place is an orphanage in the first place and full with love. You have the option to have dinner with the children which is such an amazing experience. Even if you don't speak Indonesian, communication is so simple. Great value with great experiences! I was there alone for one night.

Airconditioning or more windows that you can open for fresh air in the room would make the stay even more comfortable.

I had a problem with their other guests . Me and my partner traveled around the world and stayed in a lot of hostels . She accused us of making noise in the room but we were even tolerant about other guest noise . I booked a shared room by mistake I thought I booked a private room .

A little bit hot in the room as it only has a fan and no AC
Amazing place, friendly employees and by staying there you support the orphanage which is part of the Hostel, free breakfast was good.

Ahmed, who is taking care of the guests, is an amazing person. He will help you if you have questions and knows a lot about things to do in the area. The room has a good size and the shared bathroom is good. ( 2 showers, 2 toilets for Max 8 people). The hostel is 3 km from city centre but you have restaurants and shops nearby. We stayed 5 nights and it were sad te leave. So nice people, what a special place. If you go to malang, this is the place!!!

Amazing hostel, great breakfast. Note that all benefits of the hostel goes to an orphanage next door. The staff was super friendly.

Great comfortable and quiet place. The manager is super welcoming and we can book diner with the kids of the orphanage attached to it.

You might have to take a detour if you are not walking.
Very friendly, helpful and on tap staff. Always cold drinks and food that u can buy cheap. Artistic interior. Secured area.

Can’t fault a thing!
Bed was comfy, showers and toilets were nice and clean, quiet and peaceful environment and free breakfast all for such a small cost. Thank you to Ahmed who was always happy to help, answer questions and recommend activities/ places to go. Was really special spending time with some of the kids from the children’s home too. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at Wees Een Kind and wish I could have stayed longer! <3

A little bit far away from city center but close to restaurants (40m walking or 2 euros with Grab)
Room very big, shared toilet clean, breakfast included was really an appreciated extra considering the price. Staff very helpful, in addition you are contributing to a social project for kids

No free drinking water...
Small little hostel, the beds are comfortable and the hosts are nice. Breakfast is tasty (banana pancakes and coffee or tea). Hot water and it's located in a quiet area.
