Beds were spacious, lots of places to put luggage, clean and warm showers. Jon showed us what to do in the area and it was very helpful. We booked the 2D bromo and ijen tour and had such an incredible time! Would absolutely recommend

Bathroom (especially sinks) seem to not having been cleaned since long (very dirty). Sometimes smell of cigarette in common room and eventually dormitory.

Perfectly located for visiting Malang (close to train station and points of interest). The people there are so nice and helpful (we got some coffee and fruits and long conversations 😃). Good cheap tours organized by Jon. Beds are confortable. They said i could keep my bed and have a nap until midnight (before Bromo) without paying the night. One large dormitory, but though it is on a passing road, i could sleep well (no noise issues). Decoration of common room is nice.

Bed space is ok. Beds are ok. Its walkable distance from many things.it's cheap, price is the best attribute of the place.

The AC could be better and I didn’t realize it was a bigger dorm. The showers were ok but not the cleanest I’ve had. The location was a bit noisey because it is central, so overall wouldn’t be my first choice to stay again, but maybe I’m picky. It was still pretty cheap, so a decent option!

The concept is lovely and the owner and his son were super kind and easy to chat with. The cafe is good with local coffee. The bed was comfy but AC wasn’t strong and lights on even with curtain were a bit annoying. The location is great. Super central to everything. I recommend going to the blue and rainbow villages for a look and to the night market. Lots of good restaurants and sights close by. Pictured was my fave food from the market. Must try! Do recommend going to waterfall from here

The hostel itself is good. The staff are friendly. There’s a nice coffee shop attached. It’s in a good, central location. But the tour to Bromo is the real star and definitely worth staying for. Jon was really friendly, interesting, and helpful, and knows a lot of people so you get a good spot to watch the sunrise. You couldn’t ask for anyone better to run the tour. The scenery at Bromo was also amazing and definitely not to be missed.

There was a baby and a little kid and their mom was talk lot while they’re packing till i cant sleep it was like 5-6 am

There is no sheet, but only a blanket. So maybe bring your own sheet.

Basic but nice hostel. They serve good coffee, the location is good (in the midst of the Malang night life with live music and streetfood everywhere), the owner and his son are very friendly. I did the Bromo tour here as well.

Many people visiting here go on a (Bromo) tour, which takes place at night, so also during daytime people are often sleeping in the dorm. So there is not a good place to chat or hang out. Downstairs is great for that though. Warm water in the showers seems to run out after about 20 seconds.

Excellent Bromo tour organized. Jon is a gem, especially if you’re Dutch - talk Dutch with him! Excellent coffee downstairs. Great atmosphere. Decently clean. Curtains lend some privacy to the dorm beds.

Perfect place to rest before our journey to Bromo and Ijen with clean and quiet rooms. We were welcomed with one of their specialty coffee, you should really try them and had a good talk with owner Jon, who speaks perfect Dutch! He also recommended us where to good and showed us the best gado gado place we visited in Indonesia so far

I originally booked the 2 day 1 night Bromo - Ijen tour at Huize Jon which I can recommend!, on arrival I was allowed to book a bed for half the day to rest before I started the trip. After the trip I went back to Malang and stayed at Huize Jon for 2 more nights. Jon, his son and employees are really friendly, the bed is comfortable & overall it's a good hostel for Indonesian standards. Central location in Malang, 10 minutes walking to the main train station, and located close to a street with places to eat and have a coffee/drink at!

The owners of the guest house seemed a bit disorganised and were busy playing phone games when we were trying to check-in. The first person also told us we were not entirled to a free coffee but later on we were told that we were. My wife's bunk also had a plastic water bottle and other packaging left down the side of the bed from the previous occupant.

Organised a great trip to Mount Bromo for us and the owner gave us a free coffee. Beds were comfortable.

Good location 10 min walk from train station and easy to get around Malang. Beds clean and comfortable, room spacious and clean.

Toilets and bathroom could be refreshed/improved It is noisy (the street, the people chating in the café), it can be boring when you try to rest before or after the bromo tour. Don't forget your earplugs 😀

The hostel was really good mostly due to the staff who were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The facilities are basic enough but it is a hostel so this can be the case. What I was most impressed was that when I booked a night trip to Mt Bromo the staff allowed me to use my bed long after I was booked out, in order to rest up for my early midnight start. Also the hostel had someone on site to help with travel options and trips. Also I loved the building itself and it's Art Deco furniture and fittings on the ground floor.

Shower without warm water but it was unnecessary

Conveniently located along a main road. Easy to find it. Friendly staff. Can do laundry ourselves and there is a big balcony to dry with good sunlights. Free coffee, tea & drinking water. It has fulfilled all basic requirement.
