How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Really good location a few steps away from the train station and 5minutes from the ferry pier, a lot of streetfood around. Lovely people, family atmosphere and great tour to Kawah Ijen with delicious breakfast when you come back. The dorms are comfortable, only 4 of them so really quiet, the bathroom is clean.

Very nice staff, real backpackers vibe, close to train station and ferry to bali, confortable and clean, cheap and ijen tour organized at a good price

It should be for hiking ijen Volcano. It is run by a couple. They are very nice and enthusiastic to help you answer questions. They will greet you with hot tea. After hiking, they will prepare breakfast thoughtfully

Toilets are too small
The couple's are too friendly. The lady is cute, always happy to help you. They gave me free fruits. You can hire bikes from them to ijen or book a trip. Next to ferry port to bali and train station, near by eateries in evening are too good

The breakfast was amazing, the staff super sweet and the location could not be better - next to the train station and walking distance to the ferry to Bali. Also the Ijen tour they offered was excellent!

The promised hot shower was cold.
Excellent location between the train station and the ferry terminal, close to both. Helpful manager. Good cooked breakfast with fruit salad for Rp 20000. Fan and aircon kept the dorm at a comfortable temperature. Option to climb Mt Ijen (I didn't).

I stayed here only 1 night together with a friend before traveling to Bali. It is very close to the train station and the port, which was why we booked it. We arrived late in the evening but the woman was very friendly and gave us all the information we needed. Nice outdoor area and clean showers and toilets. It was a short stay, but would definitely recommend (also if you want to tour Ijen).

This hostel had everything you need when looking for a place to stay before trekking Mount Ijen, The property provides open tour for solo traveler like me to Mount Ijen, and the price is reasonable. Breakfast is fantastic, I'd say the most fancy throughout my travel for 3 weeks in Indonesia, they serve roti with scrambled eggs, fried vege, tofu, with a plate of fruits to each person. The room can be warm since one aircon is shared between 2 separated rooms. Water pressure in the toilet is low, there's a mosque nearby hence the frequent sound of prayer may affect light sleepers (this is common in Java and unavoidable since Javanese are Islamic). Overall I was there for a day just for the trek to Ijen, to me convenience was my top priority.

Did a tour to Ijen through the hostel. Was very good. Owners were very helpful and friendly and provided food and advice!

Great location for both visiting Mt Ijen and then taking the ferry to Bali. Unparalleled attention from the very kind host who was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and their organized Mt Ijen tour was definitely one of our highlights in Java.

I would suggest to check the aircon at the room 2 and some facilities at the bathroom.
This hostel is run by a lovely couple. Super nice people that work with decency and honesty. I loved to stay with them and make the mont Ijen hiking with them. The breakfast (paid apart) was great too.

Pretty minimal room and facilities, so I’d recommend a one night stay for the hike
lovely owners and an amazing base for an Ijen trip. right by the harbor and near the train station, pop here for one night and they’ll help organize your Ijen tour and your transit out.

The Hostel has the perfect location, it's directly between the train station and the harbour. They also offer a tour to Mt. Ijen, which was so nice. One day we rented a scooter, which was completely new and drove perfectly. And last but not least the people there are so nice, you can just like them. We had a really nice stay, thank you! :)

Location is close to everything. Unfortunetly the area is very loud, but nothing you can do about that. Bring earplugs.
Everything was great. We did the tour to Ijen with the owner and it was amazing. The owner and his wife are very nice. Close to train and ferry.

It's not a dislike, but some curtains would be nice.
The hosts were friendly and organised a tour to Ijen, as well bike or ferry tickets. The breakfast was great. The room was great and clean, some curtains would be great. Go to the savanna, it was amazing!

Nothing to do with the homestay but the street and the Azān are a bit noisy. But earplugs help against it.
Nice homestay right by the train station and a 5 minutes walk from the ferry. We had a room with bathroom, which was very nicely decorated and very clean. The bed was comfortable, the wifi great and everything you need was available. The breakfast was exceptionally varied and super tasty. Our host was very friendly and helpful, she showed us everything and explained how to get around. Thank you very much for that! Ijen tours are offered at a reasonable, very fair price. Perfect starting point for Ijen and other trips to Bali.

Perfect location for transiting from Bali to Java! Within walking distance of the ferry harbor and the train station (just a few minutes for both!). I stayed there overnight and the staff were extremely nice and helpful! During my stay, the crater of Ijen was closed so it didn't make much sense to go see it.
