Nothing. As a note, we stayed too short (1 night) which doesn't allow for everything to be seen (e.g.,the trip to the turtle beach), considering also the trip from Banyuwangi is not fast (3 hours approx), so a longer stay may be better.

Great value for money in an excellent location (5 mins walk to the beach - long and very quite, and to the boats going to Teluk Hijau amazing beach - a quick 15 mins boat trip). The food is also good at the lodge. We stayed short time (longer would have been better) but enjoyed our time there.

We liked everything! However, some information in advance about the options and costs for turtle trips (observations, release, with or without overnight stay at Sukamade, with or without Green bay trip etc) would have been helpful in advance - we would have added a day here to our itinerary if we had known all the timings. Having planned in a hurry and not done our homework, we thought the turtles were in the same bay as Java Turtle Lodge.

Hadi and the team were fantastic hosts - very welcoming and friendly. He even went out at 11 pm by jeep to saw up a tree that had fallen across the track in the National Park so that we would be able to get to Sukamade and do the turtle release early in the morning as planned. He told us lots about the local area. We also loved seeing coconut sap being processed and finding dragonfruit flowers at night. Java Turtle Lodge itself was well organised, clean and the food was delicious.

Liked everything can’t wait to see new villa

Haddi and staff can’t do enough for you. There is much to see or do but it not usual holiday place. I stayed for 8 days and was so well looked after. Don’t miss the turtles but so many other things to see and do. If you want nightlife not for you but if want to connect with nature this is the place. Haddi is doing an amazing job from a fisherman to someone building ecotourism and looking after his home village can’t rate it enough. Food every day is amazing and he rents a scooter as well you can see and do so much. Can’t wait to go back.

We enjoyed our time at Jáva Turtle Home Stay. Our accommodation was a clean, comfortable, and spacious room with a private outdoor bathroom. The home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious. Mr. Hadí organized for us a fantastic trip to Green Bay and a tour to Sukamade beach to see turtles, providing us with an unforgettable experience. Our stay was both pleasant and relaxing, and we are incredibly grateful for such a wonderful time!

Beautiful location. Amazing room with fantastic private outdoor bathroom connected to room. Friendly staff, shout out to Angel for showing me the beach's and dragonfruit flower. Thanks both were amazing. The tour to see the green turtles would have to be one of the most incredible things i have ever seen. Would recommend this to everyone

Mr. Hadi and team are very friendly. The room is very clean and has beautiful interior design. The service is very good. I ordered a birthday cake beforehand for a birthday surprise and they quickly responded and delivered the cake exactly as requested. Overall, my family really enjoyed and had a pleasant stay at Java Turtle Meru Betiri. Definitely will come back again and recommend to others!

This was honestly such a refreshing stay. The accomodation is incredibly curated. The rooms were clean, comfortable and private. We enjoyed the home cooked meals and fresh fruit made by the amazing staff! Who were all very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The homestay is right next to the beach, for which we were blessed with a few great days of weather. Overall, our stay was extremely relaxing and pleasant. And we’d recommend anyone to give this spot a chance! Once again, thank you to all the staff that made for such a beautiful time!

Vegetarian food options could have been more varied, but the taste was good.

We immediately felt welcome at Hadis Lodge. He and all this staff always cared for us and made this stay special. The room was clean with big outdoor bathroom (hot shower) and balcony. It’s also right next to the beautiful beach where you can enjoy your time almost all by yourself. Would definitely recommend it.

The fact, that Mr. Hadi, the owner not only learned English very well and built this property from nothing but has realized how tourism can change his and the community's life. Converting from fishing into tourism is not easy. The location is perfect to be away from the noise, pollution and massive tourism. You can also reach the jungle and the real turtle conservation center by 4*4 which is again organised by Mr. Hadi. Rooms very clean, shower is lovely. He picked us up at our accomodation close to Iljen and dropped to the train station on our leave. He booked train tickets for us. He and his family did everything, so we can feel good.

Hadi, his family and staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. We contacted Hadi in advance to arrange a cab from Kalisetail train station to the accommodation (the price was very fair!). Everything went smoothly, if you are unsure how to get there, contact Hadi in advance! We arrived late in the evening, but the staff still prepared dinner for us, which was delicious. We chose to have (vegetarian) lunch and dinner at Turtle Lodge during our stay and the choices were great (fruits, vegetables, fish). Just let them know your preferences :) We unfortunately did not have enough time for the turtle tour, but did a trekking tour to Green Bay. Hadi was a great guide, offered us to use one of the scooters and led us into the national park. In summary, the accommodation was very clean, spacious and a perfect way for us to escape the crowded and noisy parts of Indonesia. We felt right at home and would definitely come back. It's definitely worth the drive and you should stay at least three nights to explore the nature :)

Lovely unique spot in the south of East Java. We immediately felt homey and welcome. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This is a very special place you shouldnt miss on your trip to Java. Recommend to take a scooter and drive there yourself. After leaving Banyuwangi, the ride is beautiful!

Java Turtle lodge was an amazing place! First of all it is a beautiful environment and they made a beautiful and zen garden with nice, comfortable and clean lodges. Perfect for relaxing. Hadi and his family/staff we’re so welcoming and friendly! They showed us nice places to go and they were always available and patient to sit down with us and answer our questions. We did the 2 day tour to sukamade beach and it was the highlight of Indonesia for us. Don’t expect luxury on this tour but the experience was phenomenal!! We went with Hadi’s daughter Angel as our guide and she was the best! She always gave us a lot of energy and positive vibes!! Hadi’s wife served great food every day and we are glad that we booked more nights than we were planning to! If you like nature, easy adventure, the real side of Indonesia and good hospitality this is definitely a place to visit. Thank you so much for this great time!

No negative experiences during our stay.

Very well-run lodge with lovely home cooked food and nice bungalows. We even got a free upgrade. We were very happy with the cleanliness and the overall design of the lodge. We stayed for three nights including one night at Sukamade basic guest house to see the (baby) turtles. The host organized the trip for us which made it much cheaper compared to other distributors. The lodge has a number of scooters which you can use for free to go to the beaches. Laundry service was good and cheap, but swallowed some socks. They also provide a room for changing and a shower if you have to stay there after check-out.

We had a wonderful time at Java Turtle homestay. Hadi made us feel home. He organized a Tour for us to Meru Betiri, Green Bay and Sukamade Beach to watch the turtles with a ranger. We also watched Tukans, Kingfisher, peakhawk, eagles, grey and black monkeys, and squirrel.The tour ist highly recommended. Also they offer very good local food at the homestay and robusta coffee. This place is absolutely amazing! The staff is extremely kind and helpful, they went oit of their way to make our stay comfortable. Our bungalow was clean and spacious. Their food was delicious and the portion sizes are big. They always had vegetarian options for us. We did the trip to Sukamade beach to see the big turtle and see the baby turtles. The 2day/1night trip was absolutely worth it. We ended up extending our stay.
