Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsChristian is an extremely welcoming host and well-informed guide who can take you to the viewpoints, traditional villages and hot springs around Bajawa. The smile on his face is very contagious. He seems to know every single local around the village. Christian also arranged the Inierie hike for us, and Dino, his brother in law, served as a perfect guide. Rooms are basic but clean and showers come with hot water. They serve a decent multi optional breakfast. Reasonable prices. The accomodation has great views of Gunung Inierie.

GeorgiaOne of the rooms had low water pressure but Kristian offered to use his shower.
We stayed 4 nights with Kristian and loved it. It's an affordable, basic and clean space but what makes it outstanding is Kristian and his family. He helped us with planning our trips, helped me negotiate some ikat textiles in one of the neighboring traditional villages and had contacts for us along our Flores route. Would highly recommend staying here and chatting with Kristian. Also, his sister's pancakes are out of this world.

Francebooked a room with private bathroom but there was no water running and toilet flush was clearly broken and unused for a while, they insisted I showered in another building but after insisting they refilled the tank in the evening so I could get my own hot shower, I asked for bucket so I could at least flush the toilet. bathroom was smelly. limited English skills with staff. expensive and careless laundry service (30k), they don't use clips and it can get windy so some wet clothes were lying around on the floor including mine... oh and there was a wedding playing music until 3am the first night (bad luck) and on second night I thought I could get a good nice of sleep but there is a karaoke place nearby... I won't even mention the dozens of dogs barking in the street at night :)
breakfast was decent with good views of the town and the mt inerie, otherwise not much else to say... would definitely stay somewhere else next time.

Germany- walls of my room were paper-thin, so you could hear the surroundings of the area to socialize - room smelled bad after a time, because the toilet in the bathroom has no flush - host and his friends seem to be not really reliable: on the day I wanted to depart, I wanted to take the Gunung Mas bus. The day before I asked the host and his friends several times to call the bus company to book a ticket. At the evening the day before departure they said they could not reach the company because the office was already closed. The next morning, at the departure day, they said, everything is arranged. But when the bus arrived at departure day, there were no free seats available. So I needed to find another option getting to Moni. When I confronted the owner and his friends, they said, they called in the evening the day before to arrange the booking. So this version is contradictory to the one which they told in the morning. At least, they said sorry. But to be honest, I find it hard to believe the guys.
- good breaky - free coffee, tea, refill water

ItalyThe rooms need a fresh coat of paint. Right now they are shabby and dirty looking, the windowsills and the courtains weren't clean looking. Our bathroom needed cleaning but was cleaned after we asked. The water pressure is low so just a trickle comes out of the sink faucet.
The staff is very nice, the breakfast is excellent and the position is good.

SpainBathrooms could be improved, also there was a bit of a drainage smell (as most places in Indonesia).
The best thing about this homestay are the owners, Kristian and Maria, such wonderful people. Kristian took us on a last-minute planned guided tour of the traditional villages and hot springs, a priceless experience that I highly recommend. This is a budget stay, so rooms are very simple but in line with the great price.
