Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe place is situated in a lovely private garden. We really loved the guided trekking with our host through rice fields, some of the scenery is just breathtaking, we loved the views even more than in Tegallalang rice fields. We got to learn a lot about local life and customs as well. Cooking lesson was fun so thank you for that. Sideman has still this pristine village feel with beautiful nature around. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

South AfricaThe room smelled a bit damp, but it is in the middle of a rain forest, so it is to be expected. Without a scooter, walking to the restaurants at night felt a bit dark on the way back, but did not feel unsafe.
It was in a beautiful rain forest close to the rice field trek starting point. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, absolutely going above and beyond. They organised a massage for me at a local spa (and drove me there, as I didn’t have a scooter). Dodi also dropped me at the harbour for my trip to the Gili’s (at a very reasonable price). An absolute highlight was the cooking class with Nengah. I would recommend that everyone do this class. It was some of the nicest food I’ve had in Bali. Just bring cash for it.

United KingdomThe location is great. Very close to the best warungs, and the view of Mount Agung from the stream is beautiful. I also really liked how welcoming the staff are and they’re happy to provide lots of information and recommendations. Bed was super comfortable too.

South KoreaI liked everything, but check your bathroom towels for frogs. It’s a little walk from most of the warungs, but the rice terrace walk is nearby. The road is dark at night.
Rooms were clean and cool with a fridge to keep water cold. The veranda was a lovely place to relax and read surrounded by the chirping nature noises, especially when it rains. Really enjoyed the Balinese cooking class!

FinlandThey might be insects during the nights because you will be staying in a little jungle!
The family is wonderful and they care about your stay a lot. They offer a cooking class and silver class, we did both and enjoyed them so much. Dodi and the breakfast lady made our stay very special. Dodi is keen to teach and share the Balinese culture with his guests. You will be staying between rice fields and the views are very cute and special.

We stayed for the second time in 1 trip in this hotel because we like it so much. The hotel has just 3 independent houses so you have a lot of privacy. All is good. Nangga is so extremely friendly and always smiling. You can see, she enjoys her work and the guests. Thanks for all!

We stayed at the loka amertha for 4 nights and even extended our stay as we absolutely loved it. The homestay itself is surrounded by nature and the rooms are clean and beautiful. Dodi, his cousin and his wife make sure that it's a really pleasant experience. They are all such happy and welcoming people. We also took a silversmith class, which Dodi organized for us, and a cooking class with Dodi and Nga. Both of them were so much fun. The cooking class is in the traditional kitchen of the house and Dodi explained a lot about the balinese culture, religion and way of live. We really loved the homestay and especially the great people leading it. We definitely recommend it and would come back here anytime

AustraliaCouldn't have asked for more. All positives here.
Great breakfast; just enough to get you started for the day. For me - pancakes, coffee and fresh fruit. Location is good as it near the ricefields and river but not too far away from the cafes, etc further up the road. Very quiet and peaceful here. Lovely room and very clean. Fresh drinking water supplied in room, eco friendly. Wonderful family run this guest house and they will help you with other issues like transport, guiding, etc And if you are a nature person then many small creatures to photograph on the grounds. Highly recommended. Loved my stay here.

South AfricaEverything about Loka Amertha was lovely. It's set in a beautiful, peaceful garden filled with the sounds of birds and insects. There are only 3 cottages so it feels private. Nengah took such great care of us everyday starting with delicious welcome drinks, coffee and packed breakfast when we left again. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff is amazing, helpful and very kind. They offer a variety of activities, such as rice fields trekking or cooking class. We highly recommend both activities. We took a 3-hour trekking in the rice fields. You can also opt for a different duration. The cooking class included all the ingredients, cooking in Balinese traditional style, with lots of food to enjoy by the end of it! Delicious and well-prepared, it is an unmissable experience if you come to Loka Amertha. Also, the property is surrounded by nature with a river nearby.

We LOVED our stay at Loka Amertha. The bed is amazing, the room is extremely clean and the bathroom very beautiful. Not to mention that everybody was beyond friendly, the breakfast amazing and that there's drinking water available. They can arrange a guided walking tour if you're interested, which we really enjoyed! For Sidemen in general, it's easy if you have a scooter, but even without a scooter it's a good location. You have multiple very nice Warungs closeby and you're only seconds away from the ricefields. Can't recommend enough!
