We would like to thank the whole Lucky Bamboo family also including Mahadi for our wonderful time in Bukit Lawang. They have received us with so much warmth, happiness, commitment and help. This time was something very special for us that we will never forget. We have a lot of respect for what they all do every day and are also thankful that their work also makes a very important contribution to protecting the rainforest with all its plants and animals.

I spend 3 nights (+1 in the jungle) in this place and was awesome. At the beginning I was a bit worried because I’m travelling alone but Jhonny helped me with everything. He organised for me a pick up from the airport, the trek in the jungle (2days 1night) and the transfer for my next destination! He gave me all the information I needed for my stay, he answered to all my question about the jungle and the orangutan, was really interesting. I had a great time there, the room was big, clean and the temperature was perfect, I loved the space outside, a spent all my time sitting in the chair just outside my room chilling. The last day they also helped me with my laundry I definitely recommend this place! Thank you Jhonny and thanks to all the people in Lucky Bamboo! Auuuauuuuu

Jon is amazing, great conversation and he made sure to help everyone get their perfect stay, he enjoys people and it shows. I changed my plans to stay more here. The place is perfectly clean, the rooms are nice and simple but nothing is missing, bed is comfortable and WiFi works perfectly

Perfect place to stay in Bukit Lawang. We did the two days treck in the jungle. We were lucky to see so much orang-outan and gibbon. The room was comfortable and just in front of the restaurant, you can swim in the river. Thanks to Johnny and Kela.

Chose this property simply for the jungle trek Originally had booked one day tour but the host Johnny persuaded us to do 2 days 1 night and I’m so glad he did ! Saw lots of orangutans and other monkeys finishing off tubing back to our resort Our two guides were fantastic and looked after us constantly

Great accomodation next to the river. Johny and his family are super friendly with very good English. Possibility of some dinner with very good price. Johnny's wife is great cook. Super clean.

The only thing to note is there are no hot showers, although we knew this on booking after a week it was certainly something we were craving! It still didn’t detract from the incredible experience we had- don’t let it put you off!

From the second we booked Johnny was so accommodating, staying in regular contact via WhatsApp to answer any queries we had. He also organised transfers to and from the airport, as well as activities- use the locals he recommends as it’s a much more authentic experience and they really do look after you well! The atmosphere at lucky bamboo is amazing, we instantly were made to feel welcome by Johnny and his family. They settled us in and we’re always checking up on us, we had many evenings sat chatting to them and other guests staying at the home stay. It is situated right next to the jungle, so it is guaranteed that you will see monkeys each day as they come down and climb around the villas, the river which runs through the village is close by and perfect for a swim. There are also no motorbikes or cars on this side of the river so it is incredible peaceful and relaxing, you are just surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. We couldn’t falter the Wi-Fi in the rooms, to say we were in the jungle it wasn’t much slower than home! We also booked an over night jungle trek and it didn’t disappoint, although the terrain is a lot harder than expected the whole experience is a must and we can’t thank Kayla enough for making it so memorable! The food that was provided both at the home stay and in the jungle was excellent and reasonably priced! We really can’t recommend this place enough, it’s the ultimate jungle get away. We had booked two nights in another hotel but ended up cancelling and coming back to lucky bamboo because we loved it so much!

We had such an amazing time with you, so that we will definitely return next time we are in Lucky Bamboo. You made us feel like part of your family from the moment that we arrived. The food was so delicious and the Jungle Trek you arranged was fantastic (Ask for Rasta to take you into the Jungle, seriously the most sincere and fun guide out there). We saw so many species and everyone took great care of us. We felt like every wish was read straight of our mind! We are already missing each and every one of you. To a see you soon!!!

Saturday is partytime next door with live music. You will hear this. So just go and join the party, because you won't sleep

The location is great, people are very nice and helpfull. Price-quality ratio is good. Location.... just super! Relaxed, near the jungle. You can be waked up because the monkeys are jumping on your roof or running off with the bag of chips you planned to eat, but that's what you want, right?

We had most beautiful stay in lucky bamboo - the wonderful Garden near by the river and right in front of the jungle is awesome and the restaurant offers so much different (also vegetarian) local and fresh cooked food, it‘s amazing. We spent 5 days here and just fell in love with the place and the people! We really recommend booking a jungle tour in lucky bamboo, the guides Kella and Rasta are more than qualified and so sweet and friendly people. Also Johnny, the host is full of hospitality and really wants you to feel like home. It’s a magical place and we really look forward to visit our little jungle-family again! - Don’t expect warm showers or a toilet that flushes.. after all you are in the jungle.

- The jungle trek was terrific! The food and fruit was so unbelievably good. Kla and Gato were our guides for the 2 day trek. Exceeded our expectations. - Amazing staff! Jhonny, Rasta and Kla were so nice and friendly. They were hanging out with us, telling us about the country and the jungle. All in good English. Jhonny even speaks French! - The food is delicious, Rina is such an amazing cook. Made everything fresh from scratch.

Everything was lovely. The ubication of the hotel fantastic, the rooms and food really nice. And the owner jonny and all the staff wonderfull people, triying to help you in everything and making you feel like at home. We also made the jungle trekking with them, and was, as well, incredible. Our guide Rasta was the Best, very professional, cheerfull and funny guy, making the adventure an unforgetable experience. Totally recomended.

Everything went really smooth during my stay. Johnny "Jungle Brother" is a super friendly host. You will not need anything as long as u are there. Just ask Johnny and he gets it for you. The staff are very nice, helpful and friendly as well.

We wished we could give more than 10 stars. Jhonny, Kela and the rest of the Lucky Bamboo family are amazing and will take care of everything for you. The rooms are really clean and the cabins make you feel like you have a beautiful treehouse in the jungle. They will also organise the best jungle trek for you, with Kela, among others, as a guide. That is such a special experience and the guides are so great; they make you feel very safe and comfortable in the jungle. Couldn't recommend this place more!

The toilet really smelt bad from the start and we couldn't close the bathroom door so that wasn't nice for sleeping. No sink. And the metal roof makes it impossible to sleep when heavy raining.

Great and cute little bungalow, beautiful location. The bed was comfortable and we had all we needed. The staff is really nice and helpful.

I had the most amazing stay at Lucky Bamboo, it had a really nice atmosphere and Jhonny was so kind and helpful in organizing the jungle trek. Kayla was an awesome guide for our trek, telling us all about the jungle, we saw so many orangutans, gibbons, monkeys etc. and had a lot of fun rafting back to Bukit Lawang. The food in the restaurant and on the trek was also amazing! Would highly recommend staying here!! Wish my stay was longer!

Very nice located directly at the rainforest, staff and guides were super friendly and you got everything you need here … they make good food and have lots of different things to drink, and we got really lucky and saw an orang Utan with her baby walking through right after we woke up

We loved Lucky Bamboo. The guesthouse is in a good location next to the river. Rooms are good and beds comfortable. Food is great too. The best part is everyone is so kind and friendly. Jhonny is so helpful with anything you need! The jungle trek with kaila and Jhonny was amazing they made it so much fun and we saw loads of animals. It’s an incredible experience.
