How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. - walls quite thin so noise travelled easily - other than that it was perfect
- amazing staff who remember your name and circumstances, nothing was too much trouble for them - very clean and comfortable double room - offer organised tours which I can’t recommend enough - sociable and design of hostel well thought out, comfortable sofas after a long journey - within walking distance of train station and plenty of shops and markets

The staff is very kind! Always happy to help, have good trips organized and have very good advise what to see in and around Malang. I stayed in a fan dorm. Beds are nice with sockets next to it. With the fans, the temperature in the room was fine for me.

Great accom whilst in Malang! The staff were amazing, they were so helpful in answering any questions we had about east java, where to eat, rent a bike, transport ect! The room was clean and the outside area was great to chill in/do some travel planning ! Lovely breakfast too ! 10/10

Staff are helpful and friendly. he and she can make me smile even i disappointed from Bromo because of bad weather. I will be back and stay at Mador again soon. Highly recommend.

Nothing, maybe just the portion size a bit small and kitchen quite slow.
We had a private room with aircon. Room was big enough for all our luggage. Comfy and quiet as the private rooms are on the 2nd floor (and dorms on the first). There was a private bathroom for girls, which was great, felt like being in a hotel. Tours they organise are great (we did the waterfall one). Social hostel, easy to meet people. Hostel serves breakfast and lunch. Wifi was ok.

Loved my stay at Mador! Staff was super nice, best so far during my travels! Always helpful giving good recommendations and helping to organize trips to the waterfalls and bromo/ijen. Bathrooms were clean, communal area was nice and green.

-I rented a scooter that did needed some maintenance. -Also, but that is more a personal thing, most people come here to get a Bromo-tour so people get up at night or leave early in the morning, which made it hard for me to sleep.
The hosts are very nice and helpful. Location is also very good and they offer a lot of nice drinks and food.

The location is not very nice but close to the train station, one of the malls and the rainbow and blue villages.
All the staff are absolutely amazing, they are a young team always with a smile on the face and very supportive. We need to say a thank you to all of them but especially to Namira, she is excellent, she helped us with all the information and advices we needed to go to Bromo independently.They kept our luggages when we went to Bromo and on our last day.They are offering tours and we booked one with them for the waterfalls. The rooms are ok and the hotel is clean. The commun area is nice outdoor and indoor.

not the best location sort of felt like we were in a more industrial part of town. very close to the rainbow village but a 30 min ish walk to centre. not too big an issue. thin walls so you hear others when trying to get sleep in the day for your preparation.
great hostel if you’re doing the Mount bromo and Tumpak sewu waterfall. full of lots of other travellers doing the same thing. staff were very accommodating and let us pay for everything at the end of the stay in one transaction.
