Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe hot water seemed to have a very small tank, so we would have hot water only for 30-60 seconds, but then would have to wait 1-2 minutes for it to heat up again. The main lobby - including the restaurant - is a good mile hike up a steep, narrow, unlit road, and they surprisingly did not offer a shuttle service in the evening (only in the morning). So, if you want to dine in the restaurant (with its incredible views), you had better have your own transportation. That said, room service was a great alternative (see above).
The hotel is gorgeously located, with incredible views of the volcano and the mountains. The rooms are very large and beautifully appointed. The bathrooms were amazing, and the bed super comfortable. The balcony, with its net-enclosed sofa and a beautiful dining table overlooking the view, was a real highlight. We had a lovely meal there, nicely delivered by room service from their restaurant.

GermanyThe restaurant was rather mediocre and could be a bit more traditional re the menu. The prices are quite high for Indonesian standards.
Amazing view into the jungle, spacious bungalows, Jimmy is a great guy who helped us a lot getting around und organizing things during our stay.

AustraliaBe ready, and bring insect repellent for the mosquitos!
An amazing setting in the jungle. Close to all the main attractions - Bena village and Melange hot springs were highlights for us. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Bajawa, offering a peaceful sanctuary for our trip. Jimmy was incredibly helpful, and we learnt a lot about the region and culture through our conversations with him. The restaurant was very reasonably priced and had very tasty food with both local and western options. Shuttle is offered any time of the day to the restaurant --- we preferred to walk to wake ourselves up in the morning, and look at the stars at night -- away from the lights of the city -- it was perfect.

CanadaThe walk to the restaurant was long and hot! Would certainly have spent more time there if access was easier. The bugs were invasive! It was difficult to sit outside and enjoy the view at certain times when the mosquitoes invaded. The huge cockroaches would throw themselves against the walls in the evening - quiet funny actually - the attack of the cockroaches, but they couldn't get in if you make sure to close the doors at all times. When we first arrived, we had to clean up the dead bugs and spray the unit - perhaps this could have been done by staff before our arrival. The units are very spacious, but the space is quite empty apart from a bed and a desk. A sitting area inside would have been nice. Overall, the units could do with some refreshing.
The view was stunning and the location was amazing - far from the hustle and bustle of the town. The accommodations were lovely and very spacious. The bathroom was a beautiful room! The breakfast that was delivered to our room was very good. The ride back to our villa from the restaurant after dinner was much appreciated. The restaurant food (Heaven's Door) was amazing and the staff were helpful and pleasant. The bug lotion provided was effective and much appreciated.

GermanyWifi access missing in bungalows although very good data connection, could be turned easily into a functioning wifi by the resort. Lack of communication before arriving regarding check-in and the the relevant distance between reception and bungalows. Automatic message informing guests about baggage drop first at the bungalows and then coming uphill to the reception would have been highly useful. Reasonable prices in the restaurant, quality rather mediocre.
The resort and especially the very spacious bungalows are beautifully located overlooking the valley and the Inerie volcano. Speaking of the bathroom it features a special exotic decoration and creates a very pleasant atmosphere. Interiors are clean, relatively new and functional therefore critical reviews did not apply to this. Insects in this surrounding are fairly normal and part of the experience - no problem for us. Option to have breakfast being brought to your bungalow is fantastic.

AustriaThere is nothing to complain about. Maybe the distance to the restaurant if you haven't rented a scooter. But you should definitely do this!
Great accommodation! Beautifully designed cottage with a great balcony and a dream view. The view from the terrace is fantastic, whoever has the chance to book this accommodation should definitely do it! You will not regret it! The free room service for breakfast is included, you should definitely take advantage of it because the view is breathtaking! The staff at Heaven's Doors (restaurant) are very helpful and friendly and clearly enjoy their job.

GermanyFully overpriced for the standard provided. Other comparable places on Flores either cost half the price or have much better apartments and also service. We experienced better service at most of the homestays we stayed in, not even talking about supposedly high class places like this
Awesome views over the whole valley. This is the major advantage of the place, everything else is just standard or even less. Also nice bathrooms

United StatesNo clue how the reviews are so high. After seeing the pictures and getting a recommendation from one of the locals we decided to book this place. I would recommend you NOT stay here and save your money. A lot of the things I list below I would not mind IF the price for the room was not so expensive compared to the rest of the island. Also please note if you come with a driver there is NO place for the driver to stay. NO HOT WATER. Our room ended up not having hot water. They tried to fix it and managed to get a hot shower in but in the morning issue was back again so we couldn’t take a warm shower. The whole construction is so shabby, the Doors don’t close properly There is NO AC anlld NO FAN therefore the room gets quite hot and because of the mosquitoes you cannot open the doors. There’s no screens of course There is lots more but I will leave it at that. Look I understand what type of island Flores is, and normally I would not count some of these things against a place here; but for the amount they are charging $ you’re better off just visiting the RESTO which is quite great and just take in the views there.
The big appeal is the beautiful views of the mountains, which are amazing! But that’s about where it ends.

EstoniaThe cottages are rxtremely run down, in desperate need of refurbishment. Things not working, torn rugs, dirty table linen, no hot water. I feel that this resort was once the place to be. Now it is just a tired and run down place. Unfortunately the price is 3 times the price of most other properties and it's just not worth it.
Amazing views, very friendly and helpful staff
