How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing. Sounds were not disturbing as was mentioned in other posts. Just the prayers wake you up. We had the corner-room on the 7th floor.
Clean, friendly, wonderful stay. Restaurant close to the pool, very extensive breakfast and the sky lounge on the top floor is great!

in the busy season, breakfast space is not enough to cater to all guests, and the staff couldn't cope to top up the food.

Hall way had a damp smell on day1, but we believe they aired out the place after... so, ok...
Room was spacious for my family. Bedding was good. The noise from the train station was expected and if you are unable to sleep with the sounds, please choose another location. The last horn sound around 2am; and the first ones 4am. You will have a good rest here and its DIRECTLY opposite the station... amazing access. Cars take 90mins in normal traffic to get to the Airport, scheduled trains, 30mins... Access to the location was easy and well known by ride hailing apps etc. Water points along the hallway - just great!! value for money.

The glass wall between the bathroom & the room, although translucent, lacks privacy & I would recommend having an additional curtain that can be adjusted from inside the bathroom over the glass wall. Many hotels have that. Although I booked the same type of family room in this Aston property, I found that the room was better in the other Aston property that I stayed in Bandung just before coming here (Aston Pasteur).
The location of the hotel was very good - very close to Yogyakarta railway station where we arrived just after midnight by train from Bandung. We could easily get a Bluebird taxi to the hotel & reacxhed in few minutes - actually we could walk to the hotel but took a taxi as we had luggage. The check-in at night was fast. The room a family room & was spacious with two beds - one large & one small. The breakfast spread was good. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Malioboro street which is good to hangout in the evening for a nice walk & for dinner.

Traffic in and out.
Located across the train station and at the starting point of Malioboro shopping street. The room is big enough with a clean bathroom and comfortable bed. Breakfast is excellent.

Since the hotel is right across the train station it is noisy but we were ready for that BUT the hotel could have better windows ...or we were the only ones lucky enough to have a window that didn't close properly.
The location was amazing for us because it was right across the train station and since we arrived by train and left by train the location couldn't be better. The exchange office is 2 doors down from the hotel and the exchange rate was really good. Malioboro Street (shopping street) was also right there, a few meters to the right :) Breakfast had a big selection of Western food and local food. The hotel also has a water fountain on each floor.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Neo Malioboro. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the city. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean and well-maintained. While not overly luxurious, it offered good value for the price. The hotel's proximity to Malioboro Street and its vibrant surroundings made my experience enjoyable.

getting out of the pool 🤣 but seriously can’t complain
we like Neo alot ! we have stayed twice, the kids love the pool and the food, win, win! close to the action of Malioboro street, no taxi needed… the staff are young and happy to help for anything. We wiil be back. makasih banyak Neo !!
