Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNot too many places left in Bali where it feels like the old Bali and this, thankfully, is one of them.

United StatesThe design of the cottages just made for little room in terms of spreading out. It was difficult to open and close our suitcases because of this!
We loved the beauty and unique architecture. It truly felt like we were in a resort hideaway amongst the rice fields. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also got a massage at the spa which was amazing as well!

United StatesThis is very minor and would in no way hinder us from staying again, but our standard cottage room was a bit tatty. The bathroom in particular was below the quality shown in photos on the website.
The property is gorgeous and well-tended with a great restaurant and kind staff. They invest in the local community with a robust apprenticeship program and by hosting events for local children. We loved this ethos!

FranceBathroom unpractical and could use a refreshment. No view from balcony except on a dirty pond that could be rearranged
Close to the beginning of waterfall trekking, you can go by yourself (even if they say only one is accessible without a guide). Restaurant and xylophone at night had a nice atmosphere

AustraliaThere were quite a lot of people smoking in the restaurant, even though it was outdoors it could be a bit overwhelming - it would be good to have a non-smoking area.
A fabulous location with beautiful views. Quiet and peaceful. Good restaurant and nice small spa. Nice afternoon tea of rice-flour, coconut and palm sugar pancakes in Sunset Bar with amazing views. Staff were very friendly and kind.

United StatesWhen we arrived, the room was not what we had reserved -- we had reserved a deluxe 1-bedroom bungalow with a large room and a sitting area (to give my mother a big treat and have a place indoors for our family to gather) and another standard room for ourselves, but they gave us two standard (very small) single rooms instead. We had asked ahead of time for rooms near each other since we were traveling as an extended family, but it appears they used that info to assume we wanted two adjoining standard rooms and had changed our reservation to the two small rooms. The deluxe 1-bedroom bungalows were already all booked up that day, of course. The rooms we ended up with had a great view, but they were very small, with hardly any room to walk around the bed. We started out our visit very disappointed about not getting the deluxe suite for my mom, but they ended up giving us a discount on our standard rooms, which was nice of them. Even with the discount, though, the cost for the tiny rooms was much higher than other places we have stayed in Bali over the years. Also, the guidebooks had suggested you could walk from the hotel on hiking paths through the jungle/to the village, but that wasn't the case. (The walk to the village is down the busy road with cars and no sidewalk for most of the way.)
The place is gorgeous, and you feel like you are in a spectacular botanical garden, with so many different plants and flowers, with streams and waterfall/fountains. The view to the sea at the Sunset Bar is great, and the view to the mountains in the restaurant is also lovely. The massage was great, too. The village of Munduk down the hill was very interesting, too. I was glad I could speak Indonesian in the village, because it was very traditional--not a big tourist focus there. In the hotel compound, however, they made it very comfortable for us guests. My friend who has been to Bali many times like I have (and plays in a Balinese gamelan music ensemble) recommended it to us, and we could see why! What a treat to hear music and chanting/singing from the temple in the village as we strolled through the lush grounds of the hotel complex. Very nice.

AustraliaNothing. This place is heaven. So glad they have kept the pristine jungle around it.
Amazing location with views put across the jungle valley and a constant soundtrack of waterfalls. Stunning. Antidote to the commercial chaos of the southern Bali beaches and Ubud. The room was romantic and charming, the food fabulous. And a very good espresso coffee ( with almond milk available!) with breakfast.
