Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaThings that I think need to be added to this villa are toiletries such as soap, toothbrush and toothpaste. And maybe with the price of the accommodation you can add a cupboard to store clothes. Because so far I have stayed at a place with the same price and got wardrobe facilities hehe.
I really like the atmosphere, because when I leave the room, I see a very beautiful view of the rice fields and residents' gardens. At night I could hear the sound of crickets and frogs. I also like the breakfast because it is filled with home-cooked food. All members of the family who own this villa are very kind and very friendly.

United KingdomA little far from the main town, so we ordered takeaway on Grab both nights, so it wasn’t too much of a problem in the end.
Really comfortable, spacious and clean room, good wifi, quiet room and tasty breakfast. The staff were really attentive and kind, and we booked the Borobudur tour and an airport transfer through the homestay, meaning that Uskander was driving us around for most of our stay! It was particularly kind of him to drive us to the airport at 3am for our 7am flight! Would highly recommend staying at Rumah Ukhi if you come to visit Yogyakarta, especially considering how reasonably priced it is.

ChileIt would be nice to have hot water, but for this price, we are okay with cold! :)
A very friendly owner, clean, spacious room with AC and delicious breakfast every morning with oranges fresh from the garden for this price - unbeatable. Definitely worth staying if you are in a budget and looking for a very good price-quality ratio. Comfortable bed.

New ZealandOnly little things but for the price it’s what to be expected. The bed is not innersprug but is comfortable. No soap or toilet paper so bring with you if needed. It’s a very quiet area but door, though beautifully crafted, is not very soundproof if people are talking outside.
I loved the people that owned this Homestay. They were in contact early on in my booking and offered affordable very good added service like breakfast and dinner as well as pick up from train, tour around local market explaining things in English, and answering my many questions. I also booked them for two days in a row to be my driver and it was exceptional service. The property is also very close to lovely rice fields that are very peaceful to walk around. The locals are very friendly and as a solo woman traveler I felt very safe there.

IndonesiaThere aren't any hot water for shower but it reasonable for the low price, you can hear the noise on the outside or your noise can be hear from the outside, but for me it's okay,
It has a fair low price but with a good facility, there is AC, shower, sit closet, sink, mirror, queen size bed (not springbed), TV (not smart tv or cable tv), free WiFi and free (locals) fried noodle, it has the soothing relaxing feeling because you can hear the breeze and the leaves of the tree

Germanythe location is a bit off, but still in a nice neighborhood. Walking their will show you the real and not the touristy Java.
Ukhi is the friendliest host you can imagine. He cares about his guests and will make everything possible for you. He will pick you up or bring you to the airport for the same price as the grab taxis. He brings you to the temples, offers sunrise tours and can make delicious bami goreng. His son and wife are just as kind. We enjoyed our stay.

SpainWe were aware that by staying closer to the nature, there was more chances to deal with insects, but there were no things to avoid having insects and other animals in the room. DON’T FORGET YOUR MOSQUITOES NET. Our room just had a wall on one side, the other side was half open through wood, so the insect’s where coming in and out all the time. Maybe the other room’s are better located and more protected. In the basic stay there is no hot water, but he offer us the option to have it for extra costs. In the bathroom there is no washbasin.
It was really a home stay concept and very familiar. Ukhi, his wife and son were very friendly and took care. He was reachable through WhatsApp and helping out. Ukhi offered a pick up and drop off from the train station and motorbike for a reasonable price. The breakfast was lovely prepared by the wife. We had AC in the room. And if you have nice weather you can see Mount Merapi.
