Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkWe have been at Sanur Sativa Cottages 19 years ago. Everything was recognizable, even the rooms. If we have to be a bit negative, we would have liked more modernized bathhrooms. We would have preferred a shower room instead.
The breakfast was very nice and the surroundings of the pool very cosy. The staff of Sativa Cottages were all very friendly, smiling, caring and helpful. We felt, as if we were at home.

AustraliaI wouldn't say I didn't like it, but the huge bath and combined shower was a bit of a step over to get into - but that's what you get for a cheap but great old style Bali hotel. Renovating it would probably ruin its character.
This small traditional style hotel is at the south (good) end of Sanur, down a wide laneway, so buffered from the fairly minimal street noise. From my upstairs balcony room I looked down on the lovely pool and garden in one direction, and across a field to the sunrise in another direction! The pool and pool side area was very nice, and the restaurant right next to that. Breakfast was really good and included in the price! There was a very good supermarket on the corner of the main street and the lane to the hotel, and many excellent warungs/restaurants, including the delightful Hanoi Vietnames restaurant. And it's a relaxing 5-10 stroll to the beach, with many more restaurants, bars etc. This hotel was peaceful and quiet and I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Sanur.

AustriaIt is a bid old - some renovation would be nice. But still the whole location is great!
We love this place, we have been here many times. We love the buildings - traditional Balinese style, the pool, the whole location. Very good breakfast! Nice and helpful staff. Good location, close to the beach, restaurants, shops, but still very quiet.

United KingdomSome guests seemed to try and reserve pool side sunbeds and not use them - which lead to pressure on poolside relaxing space - we often headed to the beach which to be honest was much nicer and peaceful anyway
Bed very comfortable - breakfast was good top quality fruit - breakfast staff very agreeable and good coffee and I don’t normally drink coffee

AustraliaFor this facility to have relevance into the future and appeal to the traveler as a preferred choice of stay, the whole facility needs a make over, things like the thatched roof that gives it is tropical appeal really need maintenance, rooms could do with a fresh coat of paint and a change of decor, tables, chairs lighting, the bathroom is tired and must be difficult for the staff to get clean, again they need a modern lift.
Sativa Sanur Cottages are the quint essential old style Bali accommodation, the room is large with a nice balcony overlooking the pool area, the thatched roofs really add to appeal of this old style facility, the breakfast menu is adequate and tasty.

AustraliaIt was a very basic room. But clean. The bed was harder then our previous stay at another resort. But we got use to it. The pool bar wasn't open at our time of stay as they were in the middle of upgrading it. So we never had the chance to enjoy a drink around the pool.
We liked the location. Right next door to supermarket. Massage spa's and could walk to the beach or hire the bicycles for daily rate to get around town and down to beach bike paths. The aircon was amazing. Room was cleaned daily with fresh towels.

AustraliaAhh the situation around the pool wasn't the most ideal as I was never sure if someone was returning to their lounge chair. Which isn't the accommodations fault, people aren't meant to 'reserve' their chair. But I was a little confused about that.
I loved the location, as I felt like it nice and quiet which is exactly what I wanted. Far enough off the street (long driveway) so I didn't hear any commotion on the street. Sanur in general was quite quiet. Breakfast was simple and delicious each time. I wouldn't say it was the fanciest of places, HOWEVER it was exactly what I expected and some.

AustraliaUnfortunately the pool bar was closed for renovations, which we weren't aware of until we arrived. Should be awesome once completed. The bed was very hard in our room.
Smaller Bali style resort. Big rooms with massive front porch with outdoor furniture. The pool area was good. The in-house bike rental is a must, makes it easy to get around, there is a great beach path along the foreshore for bikes and pedestrians, no cars. The onsite outdoor massages with Juli were awesome, definitely recommend.
