Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyBrian, Sarah and the whole team are the nicest hosts. They do everything to make you feel comfortable. The Homestay is simple but really nice, cosy and has a nice very family vibe. I booked my stay and the jungle trekking REALLY spontaneously and with short nice and they went beyond to make everything work for me. Also the jungle trekking was amazing. I did 3 days and two nights and really enjoyed it. Rosyid, Gunawan and Manto were such nice guides and made our tour unforgettable. We had the best time, amazing food, saw lots of monkeys and orangutans and felt safe all the time. This crew is really amazing.

NetherlandsWe had a great time at the guesthouse. Brian is a great host and is mindful of his community and the environment. He invests in those who have need of it. We arranged our jungletrek through Brian and had a great time spending two nights on the jungle with Brosit and the guys. We lacked nothing and learned a lot about the animals we saw. Great experience!

SpainNothing we did not like.
The owner Brian and his wife Sarah are fantastic hosts. Very nice, welcoming and give great attention to their guests. Our stay at the guesthouse was super. Very nice little cabines, with nice garden where monkeys come and play in the evening. Beds were comfortable and clean. We booked a 2 days 1 night trek in the jungle with them, and let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic!! Our guides were the BEST! We had such great time with them in the jungle, they gave us plenty of explanation, always on the lookout for our safety and wellbeing, looking out for animals... In the evening at the camp we had nice chats and had fun playing some games. They were very attentive to our pathe of walking, gave us great food too along the way. We had an amazing time with Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse and Jungle Trek, recommend 100% if you stay in Bukit!!

They will organize whatever tour you would like for however long you would like with the best guides and staff for you so you have everything you need to have fun on your adventure. Brian and Sarah are extremely knowledgeable for all things jungle trekking, nature sightseeing, plants, animals and more. Some options including day and overnight jungle trekking to see orangutans, water rafting, and trips to see the bat cave.

United StatesI didn't mind it at all, but I am sure some might not be the biggest fans of karaoke... Please be forewarned that the people of Bukit Lawang love karaoke (everyone except for Brian and Sarah)!! But I'd say that you are gonna hear the sounds of karaoke ringing throughout the river valley no matter where you stay. We could even hear it in the jungle during our trek! With that said... If you can't beat them, you might as well join them!! 🎶🧑🎤🎤
I liked everything so much that I extended an over-night stay to a week-long stay!! Owners Brian and Sarah went out of their way to make sure that I was comfortable, fed, entertained and just generally smiling. Each member of staff was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Brian was able to organize my jungle trek, laundry upon returning, a lovely day trip to a hidden river spot, and transport to my next destination! A true one-stop-shop!! I really enjoyed hanging out in the garden, swinging/reading in the hammock, watching the passing goats, chickens, and of course some Thomas Leaf monkeys. The wifi was really good and I found the little dining/hang out area perfect for working on my laptop but also meeting and being social with other guests.

the breakfast at the accommodation was tasty, you choose and the cook prepares it just me and hubby went on a 4 day jungle trek with 2 guides and it was fantastic we saw about 11 orangutans, thomas monkey the guides took care of us all day, we felt like kings when booking accommodation, write them a message that you are interested in the trek and that's it :)

BelgiumBryan is a really knowledgeable (ask him about the jungle, he has great stories), positive and cool guy. His friends, family and him will make sure that you have a nice stay in the cozy jungle hub of Bukit Lawang. The food at the Guesthouse is excellent and the vibe is very good and relaxed . The jungle trek is lead by Rosit aka the magician! Just like Bryan, he has real love for the jungle and its animals. He's a great team of guides working together for Thomas Leaf. On top of that, Rosit can show you magic tricks, love his enthusiasm. You can also do a tour in the area to see how Tempeh, Tofu and Brown Sugar are made and you will stop at a some other places with the nice guidance of Ponido (sorry if the name is not totally correct 😅). I can really recommend it!

United Arab EmiratesWords could not describe how amazing was our experience. Since we arrived, Bryan welcomed us with a very big smile and kindness. The food, the location, the room, everything was perfect and way beyond our expectations. The jungle trekking with the staff of Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey was anonther level of perfection. Rachid and Gunawan were more than professional and helpful during the whole trip, big thanks to them. The trek was wonderful, the food also was so delicious , the lunch and the dinner in the camp where we had a special member of the team who cooked for us traditional dishes. We highly recommend both the guesthouse and the trip in the jungle with this super team. Thank you a lot for this lifetime memorable experience.

VietnamThe accommodation is basic but perfect for a quick rest before or after the jungle trek. The jungle trek itself was a great adventure - we were lucky enough to spot lots of orang utans and a bunch of other wildlife, and had a great time with our 2 guides (special thanks for their Indonesian lessons!). Big shout out also to the chef, we were so well-fed with the most delicious food every evening!

Isle of ManNothing. Obviously you are going to the jungle so don't be expecting the Ritz. But this is part of the adventure. If you go with the flow then you will have a special authentic experience.
Brian and Sarah were so lovely. They also went above and beyond with the service. They helped me arrange transport to Bukit Lawang and to Lake Toba. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. There is also an express laundry service too which is brilliant for after the trek if you need to leave the next day. The guides were also super friendly and everyone was very genuine and had a good sense of humour. Absolutely rate this place.

What I’ve loved the most is the people. We had a great moment in the place but also had a wonderful moment in the jungle trek with Brian’s team. I can only recommend and already did. Our guides Mas Ponidi and Bang Gunawan took really good care of us, make us laugh and are very respectful of the jungle and animals (very important to me), we had the best meals in the jungle thanks to Bang Yong. You can go eyes close. Again thank you for everything to Brian, his wife and his team.

We had a great time speaking with the staff, the food was awesome and the accomodation was super relaxing. It is a bit outside the tourist centre which makes it a really authentic place to stay. JapanI sometimes felt a little bit puched by what the guide say and the words on a billboard at the guesthouse. It seemed they don't really like a quiet person.
Owner and staff are very nice and helpful. I went to jungle trekking with 3 staffs and 3 tourist including me. Ronsit the main guide loves his home jungle and has deep knowledge about the jungle. He kept us entertained with amazing magic tricks after the wonderful dinner cooked by the chef Manto. Also Foi the support guide is so very nice and he helped us all the time. Thanks to them I saw about ten orang utan and lots more other livings. This is going to be a lifetime memory.

GermanyBooked the 2D/1N trek here, but after talking to other travelers, I found out it can be booked for cheaper elsewhere, which was a bit of a bummer since I was on a budget and the tour was already quite expensive for Asian standards.
The bungalows are super cute! The hosts are lovely, speak excellent English, and organised a pick-up from the bus station. You can get some food and drinks at the guesthouse for cheap, and the walking street is not far. Room and bathroom are kept clean. Basic room, but comfortable. Only three bungalows, so it can be booked out very fast!
