Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaUnable to sleep well because of mosquitoes. This is unavoidable as it's a place surrounded by greenery, so prepare your own bug repellents to help. Mosquitoe net is provided in the room.
- The staff were very courteous and engaging. - The inclusive transport was very convenient. - Bikes at every villa , I enjoyed riding around exploring the resort. - Private pool was clean. - Water sports are available within reach with a price.

SingaporeIt is relatively far into the island (1h drive), but well worth it
Well maintained, well designed, staff were extremely accommodating towards my toddler’s needs (setting up a cot, mosquito net around the bed, baby bathtub, toilet seat and steriliser in our room without us asking. And also providing food requests for my toddler and assisting us in heating up our toddler’s food during meals). Really enjoyed the farm animal tours, kids club and playroom, private pools and Indonesian cuisine.

SingaporeDoesn't feel like 5 star service, staff are helpful but example: turn down service isn't really a 5 star turn down service (with cleaning...etc) F&B and activities is quite expensive for the taste and quality of it - the hotel mentions they are up to par with other reorts in Bintan (I can't confirm) but the F&B is definitely on the higher price side considering the value of it as well
Lovely getaway to go for a short trip Breakfast was delicious Rooms are comfortable We did the spa that was great

SingaporeTwo minor things that can be improved to add to the experience: 1. My family didn't find the pillows to be very comfortable. 2. The dining table frames in The Dining Room restaurant need to be changed as they had a piece of wood running diagonally from top to bottom of the frame on two sides and I hit my knee multiple times during my stay.
The Residence is designed for guests to enjoy their holiday without having to leave the resort. The facilities offered were endless - free shuttle from/to the ferry terminal, great access to the beach, pool, kids club, free yoga, bicycles provided to get around, earth basket for kids to meet bunnies, chickens, fish etc., indoor games room, star gazing, water sports, ATV rides, live music and free books and games offered in the pool bar, 4 different restaurants, buggies to take guests around the resort etc. The room was quite spacious, bathroom was clean and had everything that one would need. While the resort's location is quite far away from most attractions, it comes with a relatively clean beach with no ships in sight. The staff was amazing and always greeted guests with a smile on their face and no request was too big. We tried three out of the four restaurant options (Rica Rica, The Dining Room, The Poolside Bar) and they were all top notch. Breakfast had several options and it was fantastic. Overall, an amazing stay and we will go back again for sure.

SingaporeNothing really, just that you need to take a bus ride to the property. Sea and beach is less ideal for swimming in when I visited in April.
Small but they run many programs for guests to be entertained. Attentive and well trained staff.

United KingdomLow tide makes the ocean hard to enjoy. We were unfortunate that low tide was mid day. Thus no ability to enjoy any water sports. Not that impressed by the restaurants. They were good but nothing special. Missing a touch of top end service/ideas.
Very nice rooms with plenty of space. Almost too big 😀. Very preserved area. Swimming pool was very nice and convenient. We spent time to Banyan tree before. The value for money at TheResidence is much better. Game room was very good for kids to enjoy.

SingaporeIt’s a lil far from the ferry terminal. It took us 45 mins to 1 hour to get to the resort from Tanjung Pinang ferry terminal. We went on a long weekend with the horde of tourists from Singapore, and immigration was kinda rough.
The service was absolutely amazing. We felt like we were treated like royalty during our stay. The rooms are really nice and new. There were surprisingly very few mosquitoes, I think I didn’t even get bitten once at the resort, apparently they fog the resort everyday.

SingaporeNext time I’ll have to remember to bring a scooter for my little girl as she’s just a bit too small to ride the bikes that they provide.
The staff at The Residence are excellent and so friendly. They spared no effort to ensure that we were comfortable and well looked after. The room was perfect for a family of 3 (with a toddler). The food in the resort was great with enough variety, and they offered room service which allowed us to really enjoy the seclusion. The farm and kids club activities were a real winner with my daughter - who didn’t want to leave. She particularly enjoyed the rabbit feeding (with the cutest baby bunnies) and chicken egg collection. If you have kids then this is much better than Sanchaya. We will definitely be back.

SingaporeSome tar on the beach due to the monsoon season, but the staff at the residence really work hard to clean the beach.
We loved everything about our short break at The Residence. The resort and the rooms are beautiful, we had a huge terrace with a hammock and the room was very spacious. Riding bicycles around the resort was super fun, and our little girl loved feeding and petting the bunnies and chickens. A shout out to the friendly staff, and to the lovely man who took us on a tour of the mangroves, sunset and fireflies. It’s a little slice of paradise - couldn’t recommend more!
