Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsOnly the breakfast could be a bit more (maybe with vegetables/fruits)
It has a good view and relaxing spot on the balcony. It was very clean and the staff was so sweet!! We could hire a scooter for one day from the owner, and could explore Toraja by ourselves. Loved it.

United StatesThe lodge rooms just need a few common sense items to make guests stay a bit more convenient.. I co veyed this to ouf gracious Owners, Yuli and his son Oki. The suggestions were simple and nit costly; 1) smLl end tables next go bed s, similar to all hitels worldwide, w/ a table lamp if possible. 2) A small shelf or water resistant small table in the bathroom for shampoo, soao or small items when one is showering. 3) good room fan, veiling or on stand. Tbough Toraja is not overly hot, the fan still is necessary for comfirt and air movement. 4) Chair or 2 in rooms.
Most if us Intl. Travellers have stayed in dozens if not hundreds if hotels in many countries. More or lesz they are similar some good, some not so good. Most if them we forget. However, when the owners or staff extend themselves sincerely to be pleasant and helpful to guests beyond the norm, then it is THOSE horels we remember fondly and in particular.. Mr. Yuli and his son Oki are bith naturally open, friendly and approachable, with spontaneous assistance and friendly, real discussion about many things beyond just the hotel. This personal quality makes staying in select places likr Toraja Lodge memorable beyond just a nice room or breakfast. They allowed us both to check in early and depart late, which was generous and kind of them for sure; if course it was dependent on room availability. Consider all these attriibutes I've mentioned well when you try to decide where to stay in Rantepao....

United KingdomA little bit far from the center of Rantepao (20-30 min walking). There is no restaurant in the hotel for lunch and dinner. The hotel is just in front the street and the room is noisy at night. The rooms in front of the balcony where the breakfast is served is also noisy in the morning, you can hear the guests talking loud in front your window and you can not sleep anymore. The shower is not separated from the toilet and the whole toilet will get wet after shower.
Staff is very friendly, they can help to arrange a tour guide to visit the main places in Toraja. The room, toiled, bedsheets are very clean.

United StatesLocation is far and drivers don't know where it is. You have to show them the way with google maps on your phone. They charge between 20 and 30 IDR. We booked a driver and a guide from the hotel. The guide was a Toraja but didn't tell us much beyond what you can read in a couple of pages on Wikipedia. The driver wasn't great either. Wifi didn't work well and was not usable much of the time because there was no access point on our floor. We asked the hotel for a ride to the bus station and they wanted 100 IDR. As soon as we said something they dropped to 50 IDR.
Breakfast is good: omelette, small pancakes, toast, jelly, coffee and tea. We booked 3 nights but couldn't arrive on the first day. The staff was very kind to shift our booking by one day without an extra charge.

Very nice staff! The first day I arrived, they already booked me a guide, so I could do a tour the next day. I took the evening bus, but I was aloud to stay at the hotel all day, and they even dropped me at the bus station! The room itself was very clean, the room is cleaned every day. Breakfast was good. Location very good, less than five minutes from the Main Street of Rantepao by tuktuk. The building itself is very high, which gives an amazing view of the city.
