Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice little hut to have breakfast in, which also was nice - you got some fruits to it :) Basic room as expected. Worked just fine for 2 nights.

No hot shower, but it was not so big problem considering the temperature.

Clean, spacious room. I saw no mosquitoes. Quiet, good atmosphere. Breakfast was also pretty good. It was located between the bus terminal and the peninsula (nature reserve), so if you like to get around on foot (like me), the location was convenient.

We would have liked it if the waste basket was emptied out during our visit.

The location is nice and central. We loved the nasi for breakfast, it tasted really good. Also, the extra plate of fruit was delicious. Booking tours is really easy because they have Orchid as a guide who brings you everywhere you want (and even further). The beds were really big and the room was clean.

Unfortunately unlike the ad on booking.com stated, the restaurant was closed after 4PM, which was disappointing since the prospect of ordering an affordable meal on the premises at the end of the day was an important factor in deciding to book at Ahlen for me as a solo traveler. The owner, who was abroad but also very friendly and quick to reply to messages, apologized sincerely and offered me to stay more nights at Ahlen to compensate for it (which unfortunately I couldn't).

Very friendly and welcoming staff (excellent English speaking Ocid accompanied me on various excursions and activities, introducing me to places and food I would otherwise never have experienced, my motor bike rides with him throughout the region really were the highlight of my stay, and breakfast-chef Ligas went out of his way to accommodate my big appetite for delicious food). Yes the shower is cool but fine, the slightly more expensive bungalow that I booked was probably not that much different from the regular rooms but still nice, and the breakfast is basically just a Nasi Goreng (and a big glass of fresh juice), but for a mere 15k extra Ligas will prepare you delicious extra breakfast. Location is very central.

The weather

Alhlen is a totally relaxed and friendly place. The staff were super helpful, especially our musical friend and bodyguard (joke!) Ocid. He met us off the train at Banjar, took us to Green Valley etc on motorbikes and left us at Sidareja for our train to Jogja. We only stayed 3 days, we could have stayed a week.

The Wifi was unusable on the weekends and even at points during the week. If you must have a connection, make sure you have your own hotspot.

The staff was exceptionally accommodating for breakfasts. Also, the local neighborhood has good restaurants and street food, a pet food shop (for feeding stray cats), a fun tobacco shop and a good grocery store.

The guest house was clean and good. They arrange us a hike in the Pangadaran forest with Orchid. He is very good as a guide and the hike was wonderful. It was a great adventure with him to discover Pangadaran.

We had a lovely stay at Ahlen and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to get the most out of their visit to Pangandaran. Ahlen is a centrally located, clean, spacious and beautiful hotel. Everyone working here is super friendly and accomodating, the hotel also serves a delicious breakfast and provide bottled water. Our train journey had some delays, causing us to arrive very late at Sidareja but the manager was super kind and still sent a taxi driver to pick us up. We did an amazing tour with Iwan, the main tourguide who visits the hotel during breakfast. We did a package tour which included the Green Canyon as well as the National Park which were both unique experiences. Iwan is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area and wildlife, which really enhances your tour experience! All in all an unforgettable stay 10/10!
