Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Irelandwe got the wrong rooms at first, they moved us to the correct rooms. I made the reservation for 2 rooms which means that we have seen 4 rooms at the hotel and all of them didn’t get hoovered, the carpet was dirty and the coasters for the glasses were wet. They didn’t empty the kettle (who knows for how long the water has been there) plus they turned the heating off during the night and apparently the heater also heats the shower, consequently there wasn’t hot shower during the night and morning because they only turned it on in the morning and it takes time to get warm. In two rooms the phone wasn’t working so we had to go down to the reception whenever we wanted to ask something. The parking for the hotel is really small, if you’re lucky you get a spot otherwise you will have to find another place to park.
Staff was nice, good location, the breakfast was decent as well.

IrelandMain grievance was the floor had not been hoovered properly! I hate to say that as the room was value for money, but there was lots of plastic etc leftover that the hoover didn’t pick up. The room was a little dated, which didn’t overly bother me but we noticed the bedside lamps would flicker and go from very bright to very dim like they weren’t working properly.
Couldn’t have asked for a better location. The bathroom and bedroom were very spacious. Check in was listed as 3pm, but we were allowed to enter the room about 20 minutes earlier than that which was great. Menus in the room a nice addition, to know what’s on offer in the restaurant. Good selection of channels on the tv. Lots of towels in the bathroom. Our room had three big windows which was lovely, and kept the room bright and airy.

South AfricaThe bed was slightly uncomfortable as we felt like we were rolling into the middle of the bed. As is the case with the Irish hospitality industry, the room rate is expensive & is not good value for money.
The location of the hotel was great.

IrelandNo atmosphere whatsoever. We wanted to watch the rugby but the TV in the bar did not work. No music or entertainment, in fact when we returned to the hotel at 12.30pm it looked deserted. Breakfast was ok. There was only one towel in the room

AustraliaOn arrival to check in there was a man in the foyer who stood there and looked me up and down like I was in the wrong place and not good enough for the hotel. I later asked staff who the man was and was informed the man was the Regional manager. Not a very proffecional way to great your guests. Morning staff not good, Male serving breakfast was useless, took our order, (1 x Irish breakfast and coffee and 2 pieces of toast) 30 mins later toast came out, no condiments with toast. Asked waiter for butter, 15 mins later he bought out frozen butter. He then bought out the coffee and asked was there anything else, we said yes we haven't received our Irish breakfast yet so he said I will go check. Another 1/2 hour later we asked again where was our breakfast?, he then asked us what did you order again, we said an Irish breakfast. He went away to check again. 20 minutes later our breakfast came out. We waited over an hour for our breakfast, even after reminding staff 3 times. We ate breakfast which was cold. On checking out we were asked if everything was ok, we told Lady there was no remote control for TV in room. That was noted. We were about to explain about our Breakfast experience and the phone rang she cut us off and answered the call. Was very rude.
Evening staff were great, friendly, helpful and very efficient. Room was clean and comfortable

IrelandOutrageously we booked a room with "Mountain views". We checked in and were given a room with NO WINDOW. just a big square of light behind a curtain pretending to be a window. We were told that no other rooms were available, and no manager was available to speak to until the next morning. Our room also had a bad, damp smell. The shower door was broken in the bathroom so water went everywhere. And there was a very loud banging noise audible in the room at intervals all night and all morning (a boiler or something) that kept us awake. One of the worst nights I've ever spent in a hotel. The next morning, we spoke to a manager who was helpful and apologetic, accepted the shortcomings in our experience immediately and assisted us to resolve us -- but the fact this happened the next morning, and not as soon as we checked in, just wasn't good enough.

From the time Mary greeted us at the reception it felt like being home after a long road trip Rooms were clean comfortable and the kids loved the space. We were 1 parent and 2 kids 12 and 9 years old girl and boy. Location was central with convient shopping nearby. The continental breakfast included was a good spread. I like my cooked breakfast and the 2 together fortified us for the day.
