How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We loved everything about "The K."
We have been in Ireland over three weeks now and stayed in 5-6 places, but K Kinsale is the best. Although we chose a small room, the space is well-planned and we had ample room. The best bed and the only "good" pillow (not so fat and hard). Initially a bit of a climb uphill, but Melissa told us of an alternative route into the adjacent cafe/shops area where one could walk on more sidewalks and few cars. Melissa met with us when we arrived to give us pointers and answer questions.

As advertised, the rooms are small but the bed was excellent. Very short walk downtown but uphill back.

The economy double room was a described small, and as clearly articulated before arrival, you can only fit one case in there. I found the room size and having no opening windows quite claustrophobic. The air exchanger, I think this is what it was helped the second night. The blind for the coloured glass panel doesn't stop the light from the hallway, which is left on all night and the noise from other guests carries. Parking outside the property could be an issue with a big car but there is additional free parking around the corner.
James was very helpful with information on arrival including some good places to eat. The decor of this guesthouse is really quite special. You are actually able to sit and relax and chat to other guests in a nice living area. It's not far from the center of town but it is on the high side of town if walking is an issue. The bathroom was a good size and bed comfortable.

Wifi in our room was zero. Our room was very very small. We needed to put our luggage in the bathroom.
Great location. Great owners. We had a little fridge in our room, plus a fan. There was a nice sitting area for us to use downstairs and I loved our king-size bed. There was also a kettle, with tea and coffee in our room.

Shower was extremely slick. little rug did not help matters either.
Very eclectic - beautiful artwork. Owner was very friendly and gave great advice on restaurants and sights to see. Love Kinsale.

Nothing was wrong really, not one thing
Beautiful building, both in- and outside, tea and coffee in a room are a normal thing but a candy bar was a nice touch since we were craving sth sweet lol. Friendly owners, we got a better room than booked without paying extra since someone cancelled last minute.

The bed was a little too small for my husband and I, which made for an uncomfortable night. The walls were also very thin so we heard neighbors all night. Recommend bringing good ear plugs
Super adorable dwelling, close to everything, thoughtful variety of snacks and drinks offered, and the host was extremely welcoming and gave us amazing local recommendations

Everything was great.
Loved the decor, also the fact we could bring a bottle of wine and sit by the fire. Room was spotless and quirky.

The street light coming right into the bedroom.
Melissa was a superhost!! Her place was full of playful art, just like her sparkling personality. She mapped out a bunch of choices of things to do. Her husband James was lovely as well. Kinsale is a charming town with super friendly people. I hugged my server Katey at the restaurant Fishy Fishy. We at at Bastion and had super service by Max, Helen, and Paul. And Charlie!

The K was perfect for us, but it is up a pretty steep hill from town. We are in our 60's and had no trouble walking up and down to/from town. Just something to know.
We loved everything about the K Kinsale. Melissa and James are wonderful hosts and the house is absolutely beautiful. Our room was so comfortable!! We needed a day to regroup from our busy itinerary, and the K Kinsale was the perfect place. The bed was amazing and we slept like rocks!! We stayed two nights and left wishing we had booked at least one more. Melissa and James shared thoughts about dining, sight seeing and pubs in Kinsale that made our time there even better. When you go to Kinsale...and you MUST....stay at the K Kinsale, eat breakfast at the Cosy Cafe (with all the friendly locals), and go to hear trad music on Monday nights at Daltons Pub. OMG!!!

Nothing, everything top to bottom was wonderful.
Melissa was phenomenal to work with and a joy to be around. We loved the coziness of the room as well as parking our car for 2 days and not having to worry about driving anywhere.

The weather when we arrived was the wettest day in March, flooded roads and fog, so finding our way to the K Kinsale was challenging without a GPS. The hotel is on a steep road and we were hoping that parking would not be too difficult, we were lucky - thank heavens , we found a space right at the front entrance... we might have been drenched .
Our host was particularly friendly and welcoming.
