The net curtains in the bedroom were sitting on a hook which fell down very easily. Placing stoppers on the end of rails would prevent this from happening.

Accommodation was clean and spacious, food in the Bar/ Restaurant was excellent, Staff were so friendly

The location was good. There was a great choice for breakfast and the breakfast we had was delicious as was the meal we had the night before. Also the food was from the Merry Monk, it was from 'farm to fork' and chemical free which was an added bonus. The Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We would highly recommend the Merry Monk, it is definitely worth a visit and we will return there when we next visit the area.

The pub just needs a bit more “airing” as too much smell off cooking! The rooms however are annexed and have sofa tv etc so great:

Staff were fab. They helped to facilitate our needs .. thanjs

It was a wee bit further out of town than I would have liked and although the accommodation was OK I had assumed it was all integrated in the hotel when in fact it was in a converted adjoining property

Food was good and the staff were very helpful.

Meal in pub area first night of stay was long wait then to have the order muddled and wait even longer, as server did not seem very focused on the customers, though the food was good when it arrived. Rooms excellent value for money, very clean and able to sit in a communal area for teas/coffees. If you prefer good space in a room, then there is not a great deal of space to move around especially to access the bathroom.

Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked, lots of selection, local quality products. Location is great, easy to get to and onsite parking.

The ensuite is a wet room. Maybe a duck board to stand on after. Wasn't keen on the carpet mat. The shower was good power but you can't alter the temperature as it's push operated . You'd need a shower cap if you don't want to wash your hair.

The room was spotless. Beds comfortable. The food excellent, both breakfast and dinner. Was very happy with the allergen labelling in the dinner menu. Lots of choice for people with Coeliac. The breakfast was cooked separately, presented excellently, high quality bacon and lovely gluten free toast. Bathroom was very clean, good provision of shower gel and shampoo. Would recommend and stay again, excellent value for money.

Unfortunately we were too late for food as a late check In However the manager had later expressed his concern at this and apologised offering to get food from kitchen after hours which was much appreciated (however we had obtained food outside the accommodation

The room was compact clean neat and tidy A pleasant shared communal area We stayed only one night and used the communal area to eat in late evening only A lovely comfortable bed A lovely cooked breakfast the next morning

As the premises operates sensory lighting at night, it would certainly benefit from at least one outside light on rather than guests using phones to find their way. There was no where in our room to hang clothes - plenty of shelves but no hanging space. Breakfast should include fruit juices and cereals.

The Merry Monk is in an ideal location if visiting Mayo. The accommodation is in a building separate to the bar/restaurant. Plenty of free parking available for guests. There is a lovely dining/lounge room available for guests on site with tea/coffee making facilities, large screen TV and ample seating. Guests can bring in their own food and use dining facilities. Staff are friendly and very helpful.

    Nothing

They weren’t expecting me on arrival and had to make a phone call to confirm that I’d booked and paid - fair enough. I was then shown to a room in a separate building which wasn’t as advertised. The owner agreed to show me another room which was more like it. I have to say that both rooms were immaculately presented and had everything you’d need for a stay. The owner and staff were very attentive all evening, and the food was excellent (I had the bbq ribs). I slept well, but traffic noise woke me around 7am, as it’s situated next to a fairly busy road. Breakfast was excellent. Will definitely stay again when next in the area.
