Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaI learned a thing or two from them in terms of hospitality. Everyone in the family is amicable and goes beyond their comfort to make you feel at home.

CanadaThere where loads of moskitos in the night and no moskito nets, only default of this place. Keep the doors and windows locked in the evening. They provide some incents but I still couldn't really sleep.
The place was very nice and comfortable, Danish did an amazing job at hosting us, always friendly and present. Nice food and well located, Bodhi Temple is visible and 1km away from the guesthouse and there is a beautiful view on the gardens. I was happy here.

MoroccoIt's a very welcoming and kind family. The location is on the other side of the river from Bodhgaya, which was actually perfect for us to calm down after a day in Bodhgaya. The view and atmosphere there are great. Danish was very helpful and the tour with him to the Buddha cave was amazing.

New ZealandThe only drawback is the indian style toilets which I got used to after a few days. Maybe the bathroom can be more clean
Very welcoming family, made me feel like home. Also the location is good, in a peaceful small village and away from the noise from the city centre.

BelgiumAll was fine and definitely way above standard for such a cheap price!
I'm so happy to have found this place, a true home in the middle of peace and quiet.. The entire family was so friendly and helpful and the rooftop was just perfect for spending many hours each day.. I could easily have stayed here so much longer and will definitely come back each time I go to Bodh Gaya! Thank you!

Hong KongI had spent few days in Ansari House in January. The boss and his family run the house together. I feel like home as everybody is nice and treat us as friend, especially Danish, he is very responsible and honest boy. I booked a night bus to Varanasi. It was a big regret to me as the road was full of fog and the bus was delayed for two hours in midnight !!!!! Danish and his brothers drove me to the bus stop (actually no obvious bus stop there, just somewhere with nobody) and he kept contacting the bus operator to make sure the bus were coming. I was so thankful for him and his brothers’ company. I couldn’t imagine how horrible for waiting two hours there with cold temperature in midnight by myself. The family also has their own farm which provides delicious organic food on the rooftop kitchen. The rooftop is also a nice place to meet other nice guests. In addition, it’s convenient to reach Mahabodhi Temple that just walk 15 minutes with the short cut (only available when the river bed is dry). To be honest, it’s not a hotel, they may not have 5 stars facilities but if you want to experience the local life ,feel the warm hospitality from them, stay away from the crowd, Ansari House is your choice.

GermanyI had a beautiful stay with Danish and his family. I felt like a good family friend. The food was delicious. The kitchen table was a great place to meet the family and other guests. From the rooftop you can see the Mahabodi temple. It is a 15 minute walk from Ansari House to Bodhgaya through the dry river bed. Each day Danish and I and Tin (another guest) would venture to explore places of the Buddha like Rajgir, Nalanda or Gurpa :)

United StatesIslam and his family were extremely welcoming! My train got delayed from Varanasi 5 hours so I didn’t arrive at the hostel til 3:30 am and they were so kind to awake and check me in at that time. They have a beautiful farm where they grow all of their organic vegetables to feed guests.

United KingdomSome minor maintenance issues in bathrooms, reactive dog on ground floor!
This is the type of place you can stay to decompress for a long time, there is much less motor traffic on this side of the dry river and it has the homestay vibe here. Laundry and good food available.

ChileIncredibly cozy and quiet homestay in Bodh Gaya. Islam and his family will make sure you'll get everything you need, cook deliciously fresh food up on the terrace and make you feel at home at all times. And that's what every solo traveler want/needs: a home away from home. I came for the Vipassana course and they were kind enough to let me leave luggage here and assured me my same room upon return. A genuinely great experience! Comfy beds and fans, terrace for meditating/yoga and the comfort of knowing you are well taken care of. Don't miss this place if you are coming to the land of Enlightenment and Salvation!

United KingdomA village location surrounded by fields and wildlife. Calm and peaceful with a great view of the river and Mahabodhi temple. A house full of a wonderful, caring family who will treat you like you are one of them. If you want a trip to visit a local attraction, some advice or just some food, the family will be happy to help you. Whether you are just passing through to visit the local attractions or want a place to relax for a while longer, you are made to feel most welcome. It is like home from home.

AustriaI had the most wonderful time at Ansari house. The hosts showed me endless kindness and treated me like a part of their big family - I spent 5 days at their house and even celebrated my birthday with them. The house lies in a quiet area a 30-40 min walk from the city centre and there’s a view of Mahabodhi temple from the terrace. It’s the perfect place to relax, go for walks or even a run and explore the sights in Bodh Gaya and the surroundings. You can even go on a day trip to Nalanda, Rajgir and Dungeshwari which they can organise for you. I stayed in a double room with balcony and view of Mahabodhi temple. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and I appreciated the cute diy decorations. There is no A/C but the fan was sufficient for me, you can lock the room and you can probably get a second sheet if you ask. The family cooks delicious food with fresh vegetables from their own garden. You can either have what they are having or choose from the menu. The vegetarian Biryani and the banana pancakes were fantastic. I had an amazing stay at Ansari House and enjoined spending time with the lovely family! Thank you :)

United KingdomAnsari House is great for travellers. With views of Mahabodhi temple, it is a 15 min walk into Bodh Gaya or a few minutes rickshaw. The hosts cook for you if you need food at the premises, either you can have what they are having or they will make food to request with prices to be negotiated at very reasonable rates. You can also find lots of restaurants in Bodh Gaya. The rooms are nice and clean. Overall it is a great place to stay if you are travelling or if are looking for a place to stay near to the Holy area.

Small walk to Bodhgaya from here across the river for visiting temples and restaurants. Highly recommended place to stay in Bodhgaya if some staying for long time. Definitely coming back.
