How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The bathroom was having water on the floor which is very difficult to wipe as the space is very small. The drainage was not efficient. Always flooding. Feels very bad even after taking a shower you have to step in a puddle that has water intermixing from the drain.
The staff is good. The property has an elevator, and you can get some basic breakfast for free like bread butter jam. Nice terrace with graffiti. Rooms are decent, you need to bring your own lock for the locker they provide under the bed to keep your luggage. 200rs is kept security for the key card. The price shown on booking.com is without the taxes. The charge is 1000rs per night.

The WiFi in the dorms and smoking area unfortunately did not work, the balcony in the private room could be of a better condition for the price of the room.
Friendly and very helpful staff, good size dorms, nice temperature in private rooms and dorm, good location, nice large common area, kitchen space included.

Common areas like kitchen and common washrooms were not always clean. This had to do with the laziness of the other guests, like not washing their own plates and cups.
Location is very good, staff is helpful. Beds are just as expected. Rooms are nice.

The information listed about shared and pvt washroom per room is a bit ambiguous, I booked a 4 people dorm considering shared washroom means it will be shared with 4 people, but actually there were 3 washrooms getting shared among 4-5 similar dorms.
Property is amazing in terms of location and room comfort. Gateway of India, Marine drive, Colaba Market and Local train station, all of them were at walking distance which made my travel and exploration easy. Hostel had a secure card checkin system and elevator. Sheets and blankets were on every check-out maintaining hygiene.

The location is excellent.. just a street away from the Gateway of India. Lots to see and do nearby. The room is clean, comfy bed, aircondition works well. Good value for money

The shower didn’t work properly, and there was some muck on the bedsheet. Quite expensive, but I think it’s not too bad for the area.
Gorgeous building. Lovely staff. Free tea/coffee. Beautiful area.

The single bathroom for an entire floor was annoying and the rooms didn't have the greatest service.
The location was excellent being in the cool upscale neighborhood of Colaba. Plenty of places to eat nearby and just enjoy the vibe of Mumbai. The room was cool at night and the rooftop was a nice place to go an chill. Very professional staff who took their jobs seriously. Felt very safe!

Generally a bit pricey for India, but not for Mumbai. Communal area could have been cleaner and shame not to have a view from the rooftop. Breakfast supplies were minimal.
Very friendly staff, excellent location, comfortable bed, filtered water.

The cleanliness was sometimes not that great. There was a lot of dust in the beds, causing us to sneeze a lot. Air purifiers could be a good idea for the rooms, as ours had no window.
The location was perfect. We were in a super calm street, but extremely close to everything in Mumbai (Taj Hotel 5 minutes away). There were excellent food options all around. Staff was extremely nice and very accomodating. We arrived at 8am and they let us not only leave our bags but also hang out in the common areas and take a shower, very appreciated after a long bus! The beds were also comfortable enough and the shower was excellent. They do green hours where there is no airconditioning in the afternoons, but this did not bother us, the room still kept quite cool with the fans on.

Our dorm didn't have a window. Everything is under video surveillances - was a little bit too much. They don't have mosquito net in the commonarea.
Good WiFi. Well located. The common area was nice. Possibility to leave luggage. Possibility to make coffee whenever you want and they have water filter to refill. You can book tours via the hostel with a good guide (slum Tour)

The bathrooms could be a little more cleaner and we had water issues and it took some time for them to solve it.
The location was perfect. It is close to a couple tourist attractions and there are restaurants near by.

If you are at the top, the ladder is not comfortable to climb up and down, be careful.
Very clean and nice bathroom! The staff was friendly and it has a lovely roof top area.

The booking confirmation email said that I would be charged a prepayment before the start of my stay but they asked me to pay at the arrival. Just a minor misinformation so not a big issue, but it would be better to correct the information on booking.com.
The room is well-maintained and clean, also has electronically locked door for security. The bathroom is also clean. The location is just perfect near the Gateway of India and Colaba. The price is affordable considering it is in the heart of Mumbai.
