Mattress was a bit hard, but it didn't bother us too much to be honest and we stayed 3 nights

Great location and good room! Susu was amazing and super helpful, even gave us Chai tea both days which was delicious! Also, helped us staying one more night as we realised it was the republic day on the 26 and couldn't find a train to our next destination so once he had a late cancellation he immediately told us if we wanted to extend which was great. If we come back to Puducherry, we would definitely stay here again. Thanks for everything!

Given the budget constraints the limited facilities are ok but floor repairing could be just on point needed.

The location and guest were on point. The buget stay notion and the ever famous Pondi hospitality was given but Shaman goes extra mile to ensure your comfort at stay.

For the price this place is fantastic - of course it's basic and rooms are hot but it's clean, the location is good and the host Susu is wonderful. He brought chai in the mornings, sent us some great recommendations for things to do, let us book an extra night at short notice when our bus was cancelled and even helped us pay for a tour booking online when the website wouldn't accept our card. For Susu alone this place deserves 11/10 - thank you for giving us such a good experience 🤠

The location is quiet yet a couple of minutes walk from the wonderful vibes of the city. Susu was so helpful and the best host you could ask for., he helped with taxis flights and messaged me all the best places to eat and visit. Room was clean and all facilities on point. I will definitely return to shaman on my return.

Our stay here was excellent. The accomodation is in a great location. The host Susu was very accomodating from helping us find good restaurants to finding all the scenic places. He even let us stay in the room while we waited for our night bus. The room was great value for money. Great place to spend a couple days exploring the sites.

The property is very simple with minimal facilities. They had geyser, wifi, bed and some wall racks with a table and a chair to keep our stuff. And that’s exactly what we needed because it was a great fit for our budget. The owner was really helpful. As we didn’t know how to drive we were dependent on local mode of transport. Owner helped us with all the directions. He also sent us a list with famous spots to eat and shop which helped immensely! Would definitely recommend if you want a budget stay with minimum facilities!

No bedding, soap, towels...but it's a budget stay. Just come prepared with your own things.

This stay is fairly close to the beach and the main streets. You get your own room with a fan and ensuite bathroom. The owner was really communicative and made sure check in went well. I was able to stash my belongings there after checkout as I enjoyed Pondicherry and it's relaxing vibe. I'd totally recommend this place to backpackers and budget travelers 🙏🏽🤙🏽

The room was super clean and towels, soap, tissues and water were provided. There is even the roof top where we could dry our clothes. The host was very kind and helpful. Not only did he recommend good places, restaurants and shops but the location of the house was in walkable distance to the said.

The bed was very hard and there was not bedsheet for the night time (however it was so hot that you might not need it) 😅

The best thing about the guest house was Susu, the owner and host. He is a lovely person, always willing to help, very kind and polite. He gives accurate information about how to get to places and what to do around, also information about local restaurants, cafes, etc. Besides the room was clean and was very well located, nearby the white town of Pondicherry.

Be aware that the accommodation is quite basic. My bed didn’t have a blanket but it was okay since I brought my own. This is to be expected as the rooms are very cheap.

This is a lovely, simple guesthouse that is a great value. The accommodation is basic but comfortable, and very clean. It is well located a short walk from the French quarter of the city. And, the owner is extremely attentive and kind. He was easily reachable on WhatsApp the morning of my booking, and let me check in a few hours early for free, so I could drop my things and shower. Also, he sent over a long list of recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing, cafes etc. I am a 28 year old American woman traveling alone and felt very safe here! I will likely return in a few days when I come back to Pondy, and would come back if I returned on another trip!

Great location near the Ashram and beach and also the lovely busy Heritage town. Susu the host went above and beyond with his many acts of kindness. I felt very welcomed. There's a little temple at each end of the street and people on the street are gentle and friendly. I am a 64 year old Irish woman travelling alone and I had a wonderful time in Pondicherry. My meditation dwindled somewhat as there was so much to see and do. I had lively swims at Rock Beach, the end with no rocks on SV Patel side. The water is heavenly, bit of a current but not strong. Just to add that there is no lifeguard and I'm a strong swimmer. Hire a bicycle, it's fun and stress free. Sri Aurobindo's ashram is a beautiful place to sit after a masala chai on the street and an early beach walk. Shaman House is just a few minutes cycle to the beach or ashram. Very walkable also. Susu took me on a little tour on his scooter the first day and pointed out some excellent restaurants and general landmarks which eased me in gently. He provides filtered drinking water in room so no need to buy awful plastic bottles. This is a basic guesthouse with a delightful host.
