This is an excellent place to stay in your Kolkata trip. It's very easy to travel the main tourist spots from here. And beyond that the friendly behaviour of the owner and staffs will give you more comfort in your stay. He is so friendly and helpful person.

The owner is a great guy. I needed a local contact to receive an sms from Vodafone so I could buy a local SIM card and he was happy to help and didn’t mind the hassle. I stayed here 5-6 years ago and had such good memories that on my return trip to Kolkata I didn’t even consider staying anywhere else. It’s not the Ritz but the staff and the owner are awesome, the location is great and I simply love the vibe. You may or may not but for me this place is one of my favorite budget spots in the whole world… highly recommended!

The facilities could be improved. Like air-conditioning controls weren't good, there wasn't enough electric socket to charge mobile phones and laptops, washroom could me more clean etc.

The behavior of the manager was very friendly and helpful. He is a great human being. I would like to meet him again.

The dormitory pictures you see on this online portal is not what you should expect if you choose to stay here because of economic value. The dorm is totally different from what's shown in hotel pictures. Common toilet is pathetically unhygienic and cleaning is rare if non existent. Beds are awfully untidy and pillows are rock hard.

Absolutely contrary to most reviews put up on the site as a reality stay alone will give actual picture of the glaring truth about this "wonder" hotel. It merely accommodated my budget and no special likeability to comment about.

The owner is very friendly and helpful, worried about your comfort and also giving you some nice tips about where to eat good food at good price. Beds have a plug next to it, and the room is provided by two powerful fans. The guesthouse is located at a walking distance from the park and many highlights of the city. My flight was at night, and the owner let me leave my luggage during the day and also take some rest in the evening before departure. I will stay again every time I’ll visit Calcuta.

I liked everything

I liked everything about Bengal Guest House.It is located at the heart of Kolkata city. Starting from Ahmed Sir, he is a fun loving jolly person with a lovely smile, always ready to help during the stay. The staff members are very cordial. This was my second stay here in Bengal Guest House. Will come again to stay there ♥️

It was my wedding and we had around 30 family members with us. The owner of the guest house, Mr Ahmed, was extremely helpful and personally made sure that we had the most seamless experience. He additionally helped us book a traveller that picked us up from the railway station and dropped us off the day we left. We literally have no words to express our gratitude towards to him. Will definitely keep in touch and visit again.

Behaviour of support staff : He is an old man and don't know how to greet coustomer. When we reach there he asked about the details and the amount of booking when we say its 798 for 2, then he said no its too low and we can't give you the room. You have to pay 1000( As per my knowledge many hotels in Kolkata does that, they will show less price in booking.com and charge extra when we reach there ). Then the owner came and he said don't worry we will don't charge anything extra but anyway took 98 more as tax. Toilets: Condition of the toilet was in very very poor condition. Not cleaned and very old. No geyser. Bedsheets: first the support old man was giving us used sheets but later he gave us washed sheets. There were stains on the pillow cover. Room floor mats: most disgusting part of the room. Ac:- very old and broke. For the price i can't complaint but maintanence should be there.

Owner is very friendly, supportive and helpful. Only thing I like there is the owner of the hotel. Water is free.

Wasn't clean. little maintainance. The room smelled. Sheets were unclean. Was basically a 1k guest house for which we paid 2k. Looked shady too. Spend 500 more and get a better hotel/guest house.

I have stayed here twice, and will stay here any time I am in Kolkata! The staff is great and makes you feel like family. There are lots of restaurants in the area and a very nice mall less than 2 blocks away. Highly recommended!
