Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaValue for money - breakfast was decent but basic (omelette and toast), WiFi was erratic, no bathroom amenities other than hand soap. At this price point did not seem like good value for money in the Indian context
A small property that gives an excellent feel of what living a haveli must have been like - room was furnished immaculately with antique-style furniture and with a modern bathroom. You do have to walk through the narrow lanes of the old city to find it but the lanes do have basic lighting at night, and location provides exposure to life in the old city.

United KingdomAs a heritage property in the old town, it can be a little noisy at night. It can also be hard to find the property, but Narayan is on hand to help with that. The stairs are very steep, so not good for people with mobility issues.
Narayan and the other caretaker were incredibly helpful, keen to help with any queries and accommodated our late arrivals and early departures. The rooms are beautiful, and to have a balcony to sit outside is a delight. Breakfast was very good.

IndiaThere is no lift - so jot suitable for aged or people who cannot climb stairs
We had a great experience staying at this vintage heritage Haveli (converted to a Hotel). The caretakers took personal care of our food and stay needs, and provided guidance on what to see and how to get there. The rooms are huge in size, with all amenities. The location is in the heart of the old city.

GermanyWhen coming for the first time, this place might be hard to find. But it is worth the effort of searching.
This haveli is a gem hidden in the old city of Ahmedabad. The room was very spacy, the interior reflected taste and common sense combined. I loved the view from the roof terrace in particular.

ThailandImpossible to find with no signs. Tucked deep in a tiny alley where even a tuk tuk cant reach. Google maps location not accurate. Steep and claustrophobic stairs up to room not suitable for old people and big luggage. Dogs barking and planes flying over make for lots of noise during the night. Room is not made during your stay. No tv in room. Hot water in shower finished very quickly. All in all room is way too expensive by Indian standards. Price should be halved.
Room spacious and functional. High but soft bed. Good breakfast. The manager Narayan is very nice and helpful, shows you around the old city for free and makes a big difference in making the stay easier and for your driver to find you.

United StatesHot water geyser is totally insufficient so no hot shower was possible. It feels like you are staying in someone's house not a guesthouse which is fine but not for the price. The caretakers kept us awake until after midnight loudly doing dishes in center of the haveli. Then in the morning the neighbors were so loud . Overall it was quiet for less that 5 hours. Finding this place is challenging because cars/rickshaws cannot enter this area. The taxi driver was annoyed because of this. This place has sone great attributes and incredible potential but they really need to work on a these issues if they want to charge a premium price.
The outside of the building is beautiful. The room is spacious.

IndiaThe linen was frayed and old. The rooms were dusty. Some of the lights did not work. The website did not indicate that the haveli had just two rooms, each on different floors, and very narrow steps which we found difficult to negotiate.
The staff was helpful and warm. The food was fairly well cooked. The location helped us visit parts of old Ahmedabad we would have missed otherwise.

AustraliaWe loved that the Haveli is right in the very centre of old town. It’s so beautiful! The building is over 300 years old and has been beautifully restored and cared for by the family and caretakers. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to Ahmedabad. Narayan and Mewa were welcoming and would make a wonderful breakfast each morning. They were very gracious and helpful throughout. Thank you!

United KingdomOld towels, kettle in the room but no tea or coffee. Cockroaches in bathroom. Not even toktok goes close to the hotel, so u have to walk in dark alleys. It's definitely not a place for solo female travellers, in my opinion. Experience here made us not to stay in any such accommodation ever again. On the top of that, they tried to get cash by saying that the cc machine is broken, and after I refused, a machine appeared

NetherlandsJust beware the location on Google maps is incorrect. The location on uber and Maps.me is correct.
Ahmedabad was supposed to just be a stop over, but thanks to Dohia Haveli and Mr. Narayan it became a wonderful destination. The location is perfect to explore the old city, the building is beautiful. Mr Narayan makes THE best Chai Masala and served us an amazing dinner. If you like good Indian food, make sure to eat here. In the morning, he even took us for a tour through the old city and showed us the beautiful temples and 600 year old houses the city has to offer. The room was spacious and clean, we got our first good night of sleep here in India. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

IndiaBoth rooms are on 1st and 2nd floors and the steep wooden staircase can be extremely challenging. Also the vehicles don’t go up to the house which has its advantages and disadvantages. Though the caretaker comes to the main road for the luggage.
The best thing about this property is the caretaker Narayanji. Extremely helpful, smiling and knows his job well. The 2nd thing is the house itself which has its own history, is beautifully done up and it’s in the Center of old Ahmedabad heritage site. For people who want to experience the old city culture this is nice.
