Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We enjoyed the Kerala breakfast and the owner was friendly and offeredd fresh tea and coffee, even to my friends who came over for a visit. The room was big enough . Well maintained pool ,such a relaxing space . I would highly recommend this place. The staff is respectful and ensures that my stay is comfortable. Lovely and would definitely like to return with my family.

AustraliaWe loved everything about the property.
Very clean and large rooms, with traditional looking areas which we prefer (very different to the bland modern look). We loved the caring staff and the bungalow feel of the place, it felt like a holiday stay🙏

United KingdomNothing to complain about
The property is a superbly renovated heritage style building, with a stunning central garden, which is alive with bird life, with a good size pool, the place has a stylish feel super calm and relaxing without being over designed, Hindu wooden artefacts placed around the building add to the stylish ambience. The food is fantastic real home cooked simple selection. Breakfast- kerela style/toast/omlette/fresh fruits/cakes. All the staff are very attentive and well trained with out being robotic, they all are warm welcoming personalities, particularly Laxmi and Aru ( spelt?) and the housekeeping ladies who I can’t remember their names. The rooms are spacious and everywhere is super clean & functional , there is excellent yoga in house each morning if you want it. Located walking distance to a beautiful beach and good local beach huts to eat at. Everything thing about Marari beach bungalow is brilliant- do not hesitate to book this place.

AustraliaOnly that I didn’t stay long enough.
Beautiful property - very well presented, clean & comfortable. Such a nice place to stay - the garden & birds make it really peaceful. Great food at the restaurant, & well located with walking distance to the beach. Plenty of things to do in the area, or a great place to spend some slow time by the pool. Hosts do such a great job of looking after guests & organising activities & transport around the area. Thank you so much Sandra, Lakshmi, Ramesh & Sreejith - you helped make my stay really wonderful, & to Joseph & Neethu, you have created such a beautiful place to stay.

United KingdomWe loved everything! As you can see above.
What an amazing stay!! One step inside this hotel and you immediately know you will be looked after. Apart from the amazing location which is just a short walk from the beach and an easy 30 minute drive from the Alleppey houseboats)… *we loved the front of house staff.Arun, Ramesh, Sreejth, Sandra and Lekshmi who greeted us on arrival with a drink made from the blue pea flower that grows in the garden, carried our luggage and were always helpful with advice, answers to our questions about the food and gave us insightful information about traditional living in Kerala. The staff were clearly all trained to a consistent and very high standard and they have exceptionally high levels of customer service. * we loved the delicious homemade, healthy and typical food cooked exquisitely by the cook Jismi * we loved how clean the hotel and room was thanks to the hard work of Stellama. We asked for all the names of the staff because we were so impressed with all of them and also with the utmost respect to the hotel’s policy to share any tips equally. There is a box to post tips in and a notice which makes the ‘do you tip and how much’ much easier. *we loved the attention to detail- things like plenty of water in the room but also bottles on the corridor just outside so you don’t have to ask for more and towels and water to drink next to the sun beds * we loved the quality of the building and the interior. The furniture, banisters etc- everything about the hotel made us feel like we were special guests being given a warm welcome in a prince’s palace. The size of the rooms added to this feeling. I don’t want to put everything as I want to save you some surprises when you visit.

AustraliaThere is a hefty surcharge for booking a taxi through the hotel. If you can, book direct instead. Google will serve up multiple options locally.
We had a fantastic stay and cannot recommend the place highly enough. The staff were friendly, helpful and approachable. The rooms were large and spacious with air-con and a generous bathroom/wetroom with shower. The pool had a great ambiance and was clean and well kept. The breakfast was more than ample with multiple courses all served to you at your table. The beach, transport and local restaurants are all a short walk away. Would definitely come back here to stay.

United KingdomI spent 4 nights at the Marari Beach Bungalow before joining a cycling tour of Kerala. From the moment I arrived and was greeted by Joseph and his delightful team to the moment I left is was wonderful. There has been so much care and consideration put into the restoration of the bungalow and to ensuring guests have a restful and enjoyable experience, it is faultless. The food is prepared to order and delicious. I had evening meals here 3 of the 4 nights. Breakfasts were substantial and an opportunity to sample traditional Keralan food. The room was beautiful with real attention to detail and traditional South Indian furnishings. There is a delightful pool with sun loungers and staff are incredibly attentive. I borrowed a bike to explore the area and the beach is 5 minutes away. My mornings started at 7 am with an hours yoga practice with Surendran. Surendran was an excellent teacher and I am still taking forward his teaching. It was invaluable whilst cycling! I have now spent 3 weeks in India and it is a country I have visited for 20: years for both wok and leisure. This place is memorable

United KingdomThere’s nothing to write here.
This beautiful and relatively new hotel is a real treat, with many design features that make it very special. They reflect the thought Joseph has put into making a space that feels luxurious yet homely. The garden is lovely, the pool too, but it’s the staff who are the real stars, doing everything they can to ensure guests are relaxed and comfortable. The chef’s skills deserve a huge shout-out as do the beds. All in all, a wonderful place to relax and enjoy Kerala.

NorwayFood wise the choices are not the broadest. There are some restaurants about a kilometer away on the beach but all in all a bit boring to eat the same place night after night. The hotel is expanding to build an outdoors restaurant which will probably be a good addition! Breakfast was nice.
Thank you for a great stay at Marari. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, and so are the rooms. It feels spacious and clean. The pool is clean and nice. Elegant luxury without feeling over the top or fake. The staff is the best part, beyond helpful, they assisted us in every aspect of our stay. Thank you especially to Ramesh, Sandra and Arun for making us feel so welcome.
