Bed was very soft so not good for lower back(maybe they had a harder bed, we didn't bother asking) and they don't have a washing machine (it does say in suite description that they provide one with the suite room but we did not get it).

Everything was good, clean and maintained. Breakfast was good (limited in variety but that was okay for us). Decent and very humble staff.

Beautiful house in the center of Fontainhas, full of paintings, nice books and art. Feels like heaven in a hot day because it’s fresh, clean and quiet. Staff very helpful. After some hours you will feel that you are at home.

Probably the best Hotel that I stayed at in the whole of India. I had a very nice time in this beautiful historic house that was tastefully restored - the rooms are very nice as well, with a clean bathroom and common areas to spend time in. The staff was very caring and friendly. All in all I can recommend it!

The pool was not really a pool- spa size and didn't look safe to swim in. We were told coffee always available in foyer but the machine was always switched off. A kettle in the room would have worked better. Staff didn't introduce themselves but probably due to inexperience. Senior staff asked about giving a review multiple times from early in the stay

Location is great, close to everything. Beautiful room and the building has been carefully restored. We stayed 6 nights and the room was cool and comfortable after walking in hot Goa. Friendly staff who helped to organise an early taxi trip to South Goa for a bike tour

The room smelled a little damp, maybe because it was closed for a long time and the swimming pool was really dirty. I would’ve rather they hadn’t shown it to us at all.

The location is perfect, the property is quaint and the staff were courteous.

Very thin walls between rooms and we couldn’t sleep until 3 am because someone was talking loudly in is room which was at the ground floor while we were at the 1st floor! Not the hotels fault!

there's nothing not to like imo. great stuff overall. that said: a small suggestion: i saw Suraj cooking food and it smelled absolutely out of this world. so maybe if people staying over can have food at the place itself instead of eating out or ordering in every time, it will be the only place i ever stay in goa on all of my trips.

location was nice. close to all the old bars and nice eateries and casinos. caretakers: suraj and krishna: amazing folks. they went out of their way for everything and anything. the trip was smooth bc of these 2 fellas.

As expected a bit of shuffling above from rooms upstairs along with some street sounds around this popular area.

Classy revamp carefully and tastefully executed. Staff always on hand but not intrusive. I extended my stay simply to enjoy the room and the great location. Felt safe and valued as a guest. Certainly a stand out and well worth checking in.

The staff should be strictly briefed about how to serve the customers. They should not make the customers call them and ask to clean the room or make the bed. It was written in the description as daily cleaning and facilities like hairdryer, airconditioner and all. We were not provided with a hairdryer or either daily cleaning. While providing the breakfast also we need to ask the staff to provide the other things mentioned in the breakfast menu. Only on the first day they have done everything without asking. From day 2 onwards we had to search for the staff and ask them to do things which is not what we expect from the amount what we paid for. Our airconditioner was giving a hard time since sometimes it stopped working and then it started to spill the water over the bed. Then we were moved to another room with less space and facilities way lesser than the amount which we paid for. The Television was not working since they did not pay for the dish TV connection. We already informed them that on the same day when we came to know the same. It was raining everyday very badly in Goa and our only option for entertainment was TV which was not available for 3-4 days until we checked out. The staff didn't even bother to pay and fix it. They did not even provide any deduction in the hotel booking due to the inconveniences which was caused to us but did not forget to collect the remaining amount for breakfast which we had. On the first day we even recommended the hotel to everyone we know since the room and the service was amazing. Later on we understood that until they change the staff or make them do things more seriously rather than being lazy we will not go back to Mateus on our next trip.

The location was the best part. It is right in the middle of everything that you are looking for. Rooms and the whole hotel was great. The takecarers (Merisa and the other Girl) were good to us but they were not always available to see what was really happening in the hotel.

The location was perfect. The staff super helpful who ensured the entire stay was wonderful. We initially had booked a room on the ground floor which we found was a little small on check in so got upgraded to a larger room on the first floor. Very happy that we got it upgraded because the second room was spacious, had beautiful view, ensured good sunlight and ventilation in the room. The hotel was very clean. Absolutely loved our stay here. Highly recommended.
