Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaNothing in particular. Some of the rooms need a little renovation I guess, especially paint.
The hotel staff are warm and go the extra mile to meet your expectations. They even gave us an upgrade to a river-view room for no extra charge.

It's a horrible place where you need to walk through narrow lanes and the room is stinking with a peel of walls and dirty cupboards. The experience was horrible as the staff has not provided AC

IndiaThis is a budget hotel, so know that going in. The room felt a bit dodgy, with mold growing on the walls. We were cold, as the wall unit is only a cooling system; the heat is disabled. The barebones rooftop restaurant - with no decor whatsoever - was also very chilly; wear layers if coming in winter. If you really need a break, have nice clothes with you, and plenty of money, go have a lunch next door at the stunning Brijama Palace. (They will only let you in if you spend a minimum amount - no going in just for drinks.)
The location could not be better. You are in the mystical heart of the ancient town overlooking the romantic (and thoroughly filthy) Ganges. This is India at its best and and worst. The staff did a great job arranging a solidly good walking tour (including a very memorable visit to an old building basement to see the ancient silk weaving art -- not the typical tourist shop where they give a little demo and you feel pressured to buy something; this is just a real-life workshop that hasn't changed in centuries.) They also arranged a good boat tour (well, except for when the boat driver allowed the boat purveyor of lit candles to place lit candles in our boat for us to make offerings, giving us no option but to contribute to the litter of the river). Hotel was an easy walk to both nighttime prayer ceremonies. Most surprising the food made in the little rooftop kitchen was way better than we expected. Not full of chilis, it was something we actually enjoyed, a rarity for us who do not like incredibly spicy food.

EstoniaThere are bunch of Dwivedi hotels in the same area. As we had traveled all night by train and a little confused from the narrow streets, we ended up in a hotel named "palace on steps". We were greeted, they saw from their systems, that we had a booking, charged the money and led us to a room, kindly saying that we are in a right place and exactly in the room we booked. The thing was actually, that we were not even in the right hotel!! I was sent an email next morning from booking.com, that I didn't stay in the hotel and they were going to charge me no-show fee!! Luckily we managed to clear this mess. But the problem remains, that we were brutally charged twice the sum for a pretty nasty room instead of a nice-looking river-view suite. So look out for this kind of scam!
The view from balkony on the river Ganges was the only great thing. Breakfast maybe quite passable as well.

IrelandMould in rooms. Had to leave due to allergy to mould. Long and scary route from road to the hotel through narrow alleyways. Dead rats and lots of animal faeces. Requires assistance to bring luggage into and out of the hotel which makes you absolutely dependent on hotel staff.
Had to leave as soon as possible.

RomaniaNo deep cleaning, everything seems to be dirty (walls, carpet, light switchers, nightstands) including the menu for the restaurant that was in the room (it was a reason not to eat there). Staff sleeping on the couches in the common area during the night. Very poor internet in the room and impossible to stay in the reception area as it was too hot and not welcoming at all. Not worth the money, it was the most expensive and the worst hotel in all India for us, would not return. For this money I would expect higher cleaning standards.
The possibility to check in really early in the morning, without extracharge, thank you for that (the only reason I didn’t give 1 for this review). The fact that they changed our room without any other questions after we had problems with the first room. Very close to the gats and places to eat, view from the balcony, very nice sunrise over the Ganges.

IndiaThe property is not located on a road accessible by car or auto rickshaw. However, this was communicated to us clearly by the hotel. They could not have done anything better. They also provide assistance to carry luggage, assistance for senior citizens, a local person to guide us to different places etc.,. These are wonderful.
Exception service by the manager and his team. They were actually available 24/7. They gave accurate information before the trip. They fulfilled every promise they made. They also provide assistance to carry luggage, assistance for senior citizens, a local person to guide us to different places etc.,. These are wonderful.

IndiaHotel is located near Ghat from where you can see the River Ganga flowing from river view room. During morning and evening time you can watch many boats ferrying in Ganga. The location of hotel is 5 mins walk from main road but you can enjoy walking through narrow streets of locality. Hotel Manager, entire staff, cook and ever smiling waiter are very supportive, helpful and provided us excellent services. Breakfast and food was very delicious.
