IndiaThe owners need to maintain the property a bit better. All doors and their frames need at least basic coats of paint. The bathroom taps and toilet need caulking. A very small effort will go a long way towards improving the look and feel of the property.
The best thing about this is the location. Not only are you at a walking distance from everything but you can easily get into a tuktuk if you don't want to walk. The location is slightly tucked in from the main road which makes it quieter than others. The second best thing about Sakura house is its manager, Ravi. He was very helpful and cheerful. Every single day he made sure that all our needs were met. He arranged cabs to the airport and to visit Nalanda at a reasonable price. There are mosquito repellents in the rooms that you need switch on once you get in. We had no problem with that. The cleanliness was good.

GermanyAlthough the guided tour was nice and the guide/driver was generally a chill and nice person: the 'guide' doesn't really have a lot of knowledge of all the places we went to. He is more of a driver than a guide, although he claims to be both. He will also tell you that he is a social worker and works for a school for disadvantaged children. He will offer to take you there, but I refused to go, because many of those schools that claim to help the disadvantaged seem to be some kind of money making machine or just a scam. The amounts of people in Bodh Gaya who told me they're a social worker and wanted to show me they're school is incredible high. Some of these "social workers" will take you to expensive shops were they earn commission, claiming all you buy goes to their school. Also they will ask you for/FORCE you into making a donation by guilt trapping you. They ask for extremely high donations and if you decide to give less they are not even thankful. They haven't understood what a donation is. So I would be very vary of everyone who claims to be a social worker in Bodh Gaya and who wants to take you to a school. A school is not a zoo, why would random foreigners need to visit a school? I am not sure if the school of the driver is also such a scam, but I would avoid it nevertheless. If you want to make donations: give them to trusted organisations or donate online/or use donation boxes. Don't give money to random people asking for it.
Nice and small guest house in Bodh Gaya. Relatively clean (could be improved a bit tho maybe), nice location and the staff is outstandingly friendly and welcoming. They also offer a 'guided' tour to Rajgir, Nalanda and some other places.

Location is great, walk to main temple around 5 minutes. Staff: all are very friendly and supportive, especially Ravi - he is front desk manager. Room is basic, value for money and clean. Hot shower is good.

United StatesTowels were quite heavily stained, though they seemed clean and were actually very soft! Bed linens were fine. Walls had a lot of dead mosquitos and blood smears, so I went through and cleaned all that up so I wouldn't be grossed out - then it felt much nicer. There were occasional mosquitos in the room, but generally that seemed manageable. A little more attention to details on cleaning would be nice.
The shower was easier to operate than some places in India (no fiddling with pre-heating or a separate heating unit). You can ask for a top sheet. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Room was sizable enough. There was a TV, but I never turned it on. Easy walk to the stupa and to some great restaurants.
