Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaThe food quality was extremely underwhelming. Also, its a place in the hills in a tea estate. Would have been great if the management didn't think it necessary to have singers crooning in the garden parties well into the night.
The location was amazing for a quiet getaway, the parties in the lawn notwithstanding. Its a great place if you want to stay in the hotel, but for everything else you need to have a car. Also, the restaurant needs a major improvement. Myt wife got food poisoning on the second day and the food was completely underwhelming. The place is situated in a tea estate, the least that could be done was to give good tea. But alas, that was not the case at all.

IndiaWell, I didn't know if I should be writing this, but since I love Taj, I thought this would provide good valued and honest feedback. The food is not at all up to the level of Taj. I hope u get the message that food is an integral part of hospitality and carries a lot of marks.
The location of Taj Chia kutir in Kurseong is absolutely amazing, It is approximately an hour drive from Bagdogra Airport, which is the plus point. View from the valley view room is amazing, the sun rise in the morning is picturesque. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is good, be it Room service, Reception, Resturant Spa, Bar the hospitality is embedded in their soul and that's the best thing about Taj, they want to take care of you they want to give you the best, they host you so well. The brand Taj is the icon of hospitality and shows the culture of true India. I loved Taj Chia Kutir, I would have loved to give it a 10 rating it just missed.

United Arab EmiratesThe water went out in the morning, the room heater was not available as it was a shared one used by other rooms.
The stay was fantastic... The property, the view from our room, warm behavior of all the stuffs there, the ambiance, the evening live music at the bar, all the foods, high tea, the garden visit, the tea factory visit and many more... everything was so good that we will cherish them all our lives, specially they surprised us with a beautiful decorations and a birthday cake for my son, has touched our heart.

United KingdomWifi login - why can't you just offer simple wifi - why does it need to have room and password login that drops all the time and makes you keep logging in each time. Seems overly complicated. Many hotels offer wifi with no passwords now ... so much easier. Noise from guests having parties in their courtyards. Encourages lots of people and the noise just travels upwards to all the rooms as the place is so quite and peaceful. HOards of screaming kids in the pool. (You need to find the right time to go there - early morning or late evening) - they really should have adult only times.
Fabulous hotel - amazing rooms with view of the valley. Pool is incredible and food is lovely. Car service was well organised.

IndiaExpected food to be Taj standards, but it was average. Some of the staff needs more training for a 5 star property like Taj. The breakfast buffet was huge but lacked flavours. Their bakery also needs to be better. They had mentioned filter coffee in their menus, but they served only instant coffee. Such a faux pas by Taj group is not acceptable.
Fabulous, exceptionally clean property with beautiful rooms and views. Excellent facilities, pool, state of the art gym. Welcoming staff, especially Rohan and Amanjeet Singh, at the restaurant were superb. Overall a great place for pure air, detox and destress.

AustraliaThis is a relatively new property situated at the foothills of the Himalayas. We had a room with valley views and it was as close to nature as you can get. The property is fabulous and the staff are exceptional 10/10!! We opted for the full board option and we were thankful we did that as there are no restaurants or supermarkets / shops within walking distance of the hotel. The Jiva spa was my relaxation haven! The tours organised by the hotel were very informative and well organised. A truly five star experience.

United StatesMattress and pillows on the twin bed room were mediocre. Not great for side sleepers.
The location is jaw dropping, overlooking the hills, valleys and lush green tea garden. The property is exquisitely decorated with great attention to the details. Food is top notch. The best part of this property is their staffs. Staffs went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable stay. 100 percent recommended.
