More (non spicy) food options suitable for children, there was rice and a good desert selection, but children items e.g. pizza were on order basis so took 10 minutes before they could eat.

It was a beautiful traditional hotel. Very ornate and charming. The security people who greeted us were welcoming. Check in was done by the Viator admin person who managed the entire process. Varanasi is extraordinary - very old, very spiritual and very busy.

I find unacceptable for a 5 stars hotel in India not to provide automatically Spring Water in the rooms. They only provide filtered tap water or “processed water with added minerals” When you are a foreign traveller, it is a daily essential to have access to real mineral/spring water and not some sort of recycled tap water. Beds were not very comfortable and why 2 twins separated. AC off and it was too dry/cold in the room

The restaurant was extremely good, I loved the souvenirs store with handmade lacquered wood object. Person at the reception and security doing a great job.

I felt the room charges were steep. I understand it’s a 5-star property but I may consider another hotel next time. I think I was lucky that we visited twice during Covid and we got a fantastic deal that included breakfast, lunch and dinner at a lower price. Now the charges are more than double of what I paid two years ago with just breakfast.

The property is easily reached in Varanasi. It’s very clean, well maintained. The room was clean and comfortable for our stay of one night. There is a beautiful garden and you can see peacocks, beautiful trees, flowers and the atmosphere is serene.

While the hotel excelled in many areas, the dining experience, particularly the dinner buffet and breakfast offerings, left room for improvement. Compared to similar establishments in India, the variety and breadth of the menu seemed somewhat limited, particularly noticeable at breakfast, where the selection did not quite meet the international standards expected at this level of hospitality. Although the quality of food was satisfactory, the limited assortment and the replenishment rate, especially by 9 PM, suggested a need for enhancement. Addressing this aspect could further elevate the overall guest experience.

I particularly appreciated the attentiveness of the hotel staff, especially the manager, who effectively and professionally resolved any minor setbacks. The room we were accommodated in stood out for its cleanliness, comfort, and tasteful decor, which is noteworthy given my frequent travels in India. While the hotel is a few kilometers from the city center, it's conveniently reachable by taxi within 20 to 25 minutes. Overall, my experience was highly satisfactory.

The hotel is an oasis in the middle of the chaos of Varanasi. We stayed three nights in Varanasi, and not being able to change our return, we changed the last night to this hotel, the truth, it helped me a lot to relax, Varanasi is a tough city and you see strong scenes with animals and people, so this hotel gave us a lot of peace ... also, Praveen, was one of the staff that made my stay more pleasant, he offered me a relaxation for my feet with rose water. He was spectacular! If you are one of the people that when you travel, you like to have the best attention and rest, this hotel is the option.

The property is older and could benefit from a refresh. We had some issues during our stay but the manager Mr. Singh was exceptionally responsive and accommodating in resolving them and we left happy.

The staff was incredibly warm, friendly and extremely helpful. The spa experience was exceptional- highly recommend.

We were disappointed that there wasn’t a bar for pre dinner drinks. Dinner opened late at 7.30pm presumably due to visitors watching the Aarti. We anticipated a dosa live station at breakfast and ice cream offered for dessert but neither featured. Small details but the restaurant didn’t match previous stays in other Taj properties. The location isn’t near the Ganges which requires transportation in sometimes crowded traffic. The property is tired in some areas such as the foyer toilets and requires maintenance. The weather was disappointingly cold which prevented use of the pool. The massage technique was excellent. The grounds felt remote and not integral to the stay experience. Perhaps again due to the cool weather and the time of year. Other reviewers seem to have had a more positive experience than we did on this occasion. Past stays across other Taj properties have felt more opulent.

An efficient welcome and personalised gift on arrival and departure. Efficient laundry service. We experienced some issues and the team resolved these at checkout.
