The location is lovely. It will give you an earthly feeling with all the amenities. The staff out there are extremely kind and gentle. If you wanna be under the nature cover and away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, this is the place to be in for a couple of days or more. I hope to be back there soon.

The only factor that got this place a lower rating in comfort and facility was the absence of proper heating. There was a nice fireplace but they could not set it up. Neither could they provide an adequate electric heater. The only heating they could provide was a very small hot air blower for the huge room.

Our stay at Barfung Retreat had been great. We stayed in one of their suites. The rooms were huge, so was the balcony. The surroundings were calm and quite giving us the much needed respite to rejuvenate ourselves. The decor and facilities were wonderful and so was the food. The kitchen staff were very accommodating and followed our special cooking requirements

The food at the property though homely and tasty is a bit overpriced. That would be my only complaint of this property.

The property was very good location wise if you want absolute peace and only the sound of nature to accompany you. It is best to stock up on essentials because the nearest store is 20-25 minutes by car. The property was clean and the room we stayed in was huge with a big balcony where it seemed like we are in the middle of the jungle. The staff and the manager Mr Dinesh Thapa were very cordial and co-operative to our every request.

Situated about 7km from Ravangla at an elevation of about 5500', Barfung Retreat is a relaxed place boasting of a wide angle view of the Kanchenjunga range from the upper room balconies & from the deck outside their dining area, especially early mornings. Very friendly, helpful staff - Sonam, Vishal & the others, offering courteous & prompt service with a smile. And 3 large handsome friendly dogs who accompany you on your walks. Plus, if you are into birding, plenty of birds cavorting around the property, plus many more to be found on the walks around the place.

The condition of the garden is a bit sad and there is little seating. Even though the staff were friendly, they sometimes seemed headless without guidance. You never knew who exactly was working there (uniform or name tags would be helpful). Card payment is not possible for international guests.

The concept with the bungalows and the large window front is very good. Everything was clean and the staff friendly.

it’s serenity. Staffs were very cooperative. Rooms were clean and well maintained. A good resort to stay with family. And you can see Kanchanjanga while laying on your bed. They also cooked as per our taste.

Everything was good for us

The property was superb location was beautiful with lovely view. The staff was very hospitable and friendly, gave us a peek into their culture, served us some local foods which was a lovely experience. We extended our stay by a day because we loved the place so much.

Though it was not a problem for us as we loved the solitude, the property is located quite some way away from the main town and there is nothing nearby. One needs to have their own transport to reach the place and also to go anywhere else.

The property is very beautiful with good views of the surrounding mountains. The rooms are very well appointed, and the suite we stayed in was especially superb with a marvellous verandah overlooking the valleys and mountains. We were thrilled with the place where we could immerse ourselves in nature. The staff were very courteous and helpful; in fact they went out of their way to procure pork for us when we requested for it. If one is looking for an idyllic stay away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, then this is the place.

There is no professional chef. Just a local boy who has no idea about menu. The breakfast was not good. Simple item like Poha was also overcooked with no taste. Evening dinner was also not good. But the maintenance of the property is poor. Some of the rooms were clean and some weren't. The blankets should have inner bedsheets which can be washed after every use. But there were no bedsheets under the blankets. It was very cold so we couldn't discard the blankets. So it lacked hygiene and we were not happy using those used blankets on our body. Also what shocked me the most was that, after having booked rooms with breakfast, I was told at the property that our plan is without breakfast!!! Luckily I had WhatsApp conversation proof with the sales team. If not for that, I would have had tough time to settle the matter. In the entire of the tour this was the only place which was disappointing for us.

The hotel is a lovely respite from dusty Ravangla, but also an easy taxi ride to and from the nearby sites. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Walks near the hotel were a peaceful diversion. A great place to stay.

Beautiful property with lovely rooms spread across a large, green, hilly area. Perfect for travellers who want to stay away from the bustle of the market area but have it still be close and easily accessible. The staff is lovely, efficient and incredibly polite. We particularly enjoyed the view and local food! Highly recommend!

While we really liked being in a rural area with walking distances to monasteries, The Barfung was a little difficult to find. I suggest you put an arrow on the largest sign indicating a right turn. Otherwise, we enjoyed everyting.

We enjoyed our large room with attached large balcony overlooking 180 degrees of snow-capped mountains. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The staff wanting to please and friendly.
