Honestly it was excellent, maybe the only thing was inconsistent hot water in the dorm rooms.

One of the most peaceful locations I’ve stayed in during my travels through India. The view and location is simply unmatched peace, looking directly into Chokling Monastery with the foothills of the Himalayas to your right. The property itself is exceptionally well maintained, clean, artistically decorated and with more than helpful staff. Silk Road Cafe on true top floor has spotless service ran by Anna is also top notch and a great chill out zone! Clean, spacious dorm room with super comfy mattresses. Cutest dogs around the property too! Will definitely be staying again if I return to Bir.

The barking dogs kept me up the first night. After that I got ear plugs and slept quite well. Also, it was an unexpected problem that when we wanted to add a room we could not use credit cards to pay for it. Communication was also difficult at times. We worked it all out in the end, but it did require spending more cash than we had anticipated.

The location could not be better. The room I had was comfortable and spacious. Although originally presented as a room to sleep three, two were all it could have held comfortably. I ended having it to myself, though, and it was perfect. With a sofa and two chairs it became a gathering place for the others of my group staying there. Perfect.

This is an a lovely location, in the heart of Bir colony but down a quiet lane with wonderful views to the frosted mountains and the monastery with its line of stupas and mani stones. The staff are especially warm, friendly, helpful & the manager was exceptionally understanding, patient & practically helpful regarding a banking error that affected my online payment. I had a room with mountain views for the first week and then a room on the East side which was shaded and quiter and cosy, both had huge comfy beds & nice arty decor. The rooms are very spacious and the outside verandah is too with plenty of seating plus a large sunny rootop cafe area. Guests were mostly paragliders and some pilgrims touring monasteries and courses, & the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed.

Chokling Arthouse is one of the best stays in Bir. The mountain, the lush green scenery, and the monastery is breathtaking. The hospitality is amazing. They made my solo trip super easy. To add a cherry on the cake, they arranged for paragliding, and the experience was out of the world. I would definitely come and stay here for sure

Sometimes I could smell smoke in the hallway. But I mentioned it to the manager and he helped change the situation and was respectable in the interaction

The room was great. Very spacious two twin beds. I paid half full room cost for a single bed meaning the other bed could be booked by anyone. I think this is a nice way to accomodate solo travelers. Thanks.
