Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

The rooms are beautiful, and they give vibes of history of Kolkata. I really love the architecture of the hotel. The pictures and paints in the bar amazing. So much history, Paintings and pictures of the foundation of the hotel and freedom fighters. The food is amazing especially the Thai restaurant in the hotel. It seems it is rated best in India or something for Thai food. It certainly lived to the mark. The poolside is amazing as well and you tell them to arrange dinner for you near the pool side as well.

JapanIt might take some time to fill up the form to check-in. The room key was really fragile to mobile phone's electric wave, I had to go to the reception twice as the elevator doesn't work due to this key issue. (and no prior explanation shared)
Wonderful stay. Great location nearby the metro and some sightseeing spots. I live in India and visited many hotels in other cities but this is the first luxurious hotel surrounded by bussle street, full of shops, just a few steps away yet tranquility assured once inside the hotel. Variety of breakfast selections. So many different kind of drinks, breads, egg menu, fruites, salads, western/indian food etc Loved relaxing by the pool side..

Excellent retro hotel with utmost attention to detail. The room height was exceptionally tall and it was squeaky clean. They offer 4/5 different type of pillow choices to choose from. Rooms had all the amenities we needed plus some more. We went out in the afternoon and came back to a neatly prepped room with a fresh room service without telling anyone anything. Stuffs were eager to help and received all services promptly. The cutlet & soup I ordered by in-room dinning were delicious. Morning breakfast service is super!

Exellent, excellent, excellent! location, staff and accommodation! Stay here every year and the whole experience from arriving in the entrance from the bustling Street to stepping into the hotel is truly 1st class. Lovely smiles from all the staff. The breakfast is fantastic with a huge selection to choose from. Plenty of staff in all areas of the hotel. Room was perfect and very well serviced by housekeeping. Great location for Central Kolkata so didn't need taxis. We needed an early check in as we had been travelling 24 hours and our room was made available. Upon leaving at 0400 a takeaway light breakfast was supplied. The hotel spa is a wonderful service and definitely worth using. Looking forward to our return visit!

United KingdomOnly complaint was that whilst the room was comfortable and reasonably spacious the view was awful, over a back alley. I can't remember if it was described as a "city view", but that was not what it was.
It is a lovely hotel with excellent food and a very pleasant swimming pool area. Staff were very helpful and attentive, we liked the no tips policy but give a service donation at the end of stay if desired. Splendid location.

JapanI kept receiving spam-like emails after booking that says my credit card is invalid or annoying things although they refuse to receive payment directly through booking.com. The fact is that the card verification system this hotel adopts is defective or out-of-date and cannot be applied to some foreign credit cards. Even after I left the hotel again I received spam-like emails with broken web links where they ask evaluation, but the message texts and links are broken at all and even some parts are illegible, then how could I give evaluation and they still kept sending same annoying irresponsible emails to my address. This is a typical trait of badly designed Indian webmaster system and I never expected to experience this terrible e-harrassment from Oberoi. And what I didn't like most about their service is that they work "noisy complainer first" basis. The doorman didn't open the door if I do not stop and say hello in a loud voice. When I'm kept waiting long and irritated at the concierge they will never notice I'm in trouble or disturbed until I angrily complain and ask what is going on. Many foreigners hate this Indian practice and choose better hotels to avoid such treatment, but Oberoi Grand Kolkata is too much Indian generic hotel in this regard. If you are an Indian, you might like it but I don't.
Superb room and the entire structure of heritage building. Previously I stayed at a nearby cheaper hotel but the soundproofness of this hotel is totally different from others. The honks and bustlings of the outside roads just sound like remote bird chirp inside the hotel room, although there was huge construction noise inside the hotel during daytime. The lighting in the room was also nice and I felt relaxed to stay inside. The bathroom design is good but the bathtub was too shallow. The hotel staff members were courteous but not attentive as international luxury hotel standard. Breakfast food itself was good but the clerks at the restaurant never explained about the egg menu ordering board and they just put the board on the table and left, and they never said anything about where and which kind of foods were on the buffet table. I couldn't find bread section nearby the entrance by myself because that table was separate from the others and not visible at first sight. They were not attentive either and had too much strong Indian accent which was hard to understand.

ItalyI wish, as a returning client ,the able to have a room upgrdade next time. As the room at the first floor where comfortable but a little humid.
The atmosphere of an heritage property and the luxurious premises made our stay memorable. Perfect to sleep in a very comfortable bed after a long flight. A very helpful staff helped us with all our requests and was extremely kind and attentive. Thank you and we will be back next year.
