Suggestion to put curtains on the beds for more privacy. Would have liked more than 1 fan in the room, that one was only directed at 1 upper bed. Unhandy to have to pass through the shower/sink area to the toilet. Means you have to wait a long time before everyone is finished with their shower before you can go to the toilet. Loud music (from the kitchen?) often continues till at least 00.30h, while music in the common area has to stop at 22.00h. Reception person was not very helpful in advising transport options or tours. Tour organised by hostel was very overpriced and did not even go to the different places we were supposed to visit.

Spacious beds with reading light and power socket. Warm shower. Beautiful, spacious and comfy common area with nice rooftop terrace and tabletennis. Nice creative evening activity. Good to have option to refill own bottle with filtered water.

The property did not often keep change/ float which made it hard to pay for things. The cafe hours were unreliable which affected us when planning trips. The storage lockers were broken so there was no secure place for us to store valuables.

The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The manager was very amenable to help us and even helped us to organise drivers for trips. The atmosphere in the hostel was sociable and we had a great time hanging out in the lovely common room.

This was my first stay with Zostel Shillong. I am a solo traveller and nothing more could have made my travel better than Zostel Shillong. Kuddos to a team of people dedicated at making the tourist experience better. A shoutout to 1. Santosh bhaiya, a guy with a big smile and always there to assist you at whatever needed. 2. Rajeev bhaiya, for locally travelling to places like Cherrapunji, Dawki, etc. the guy had loads of travellers/passengers stories to tell...be patient and just enjoy them. 3. And also a big thanks to the inhouse cafe staff, their passion to serve and empathetic qualities are heartily appreciated (there were times I reached late and they were off to close their cafe...yet they served knowing how tiring the trecks and travel can be).

The insulation was poor in my room, both in terms of temperature and in terms of noise, and music wasn't always turned off at 10pm such that if I hadn't had earplugs, I would've had trouble sleeping some nights. I think this really depends on the location of your room compared to the common areas, though.

The staff was helpful and the rooms were very clean. I'd recommend asking for an extra blanket if you need one - I did and it was super helpful!

Given the amount charged and the popularity of the chain of Zostel, I was surprised to see a very ill equipped room. The room was okay sized but just had a bed and a locker. Absolutely nothing else, not even a small table to keep things. No hanger, no strings to keep clothes. Reception on arrival of guests can be made better. I wasn't told that my dorm bathroom is shared with another dorm, had to keep looking around for basic stuff like the water purifier...where the cafe and the common areas are which are things that should be introduced to in the beginning itself when a guest arrives. Nobody except Santosh bhaiyya seems to care about the guests in this hostel. Long way to go to improve at par with other hostel chains in the country, so that people can actually stay for longer periods with the basic needs met.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The best thing about this hostel is Santosh bhaiyya in the cafe and his help and reception. There was a good crowd so it turned out to be a good time.

As most of the cabs from Guwahati have a police bazar as the last point, Zostel should mention a way or a route from the Police bazar to the Zostel location.

Shillong is a beautiful place and to compliment it's beauty ,Zostel fits best to stay amid natural surroundings, beautiful views of the city and positive vibes. The Zostel staff are very friendly and cooperative, the tourists coming from all over India and outside makes this place a diversified stay while interaction with them . I should also mention the community manager Ms Soumya who took us to a memorable trip to the pine forest,as well as local cafes,and walking tours .She is full of energy and ideas to make the trip more interesting and adventurous.

Santosh bhaiya and his team including the cafeteria, hosted us very well. Clean rooms, hygienic food, fast service, and a homelike atmosphere. Two of the community managers were awesome, dev and aman, they knew what they are here for, good bonding, chill guys. .

Since the property was new, the rooms were still not fully prepared (for example, my dorm didn't have a window so all night we would hear voices). I beleive as the team settles in, experience will be better

I was told by two staff members that they do not provide a laundry service despite it being listed as a chargable service on their website. Traveling for two years almost and I never experience a hostel without this service. 90% of the food menu is unavailable first and foremost and then also overpriced, it takes way too long relative to ordering via Zomato. They told me the hostel does not need AC because Shillong is a hill station, yet sleeping in underwear the room is unbearably suffocating and waking up in sweat. Zostel is biggest hostel chain in India, I'm sure they can afford to install AC and provide a laundry service at the rate they charge.

Beds are very comfortable with charging sockets next to the beds. Shower always has hot water. Interiorand exterior design is very aesthetic, large common room with TV and games etc. With adjoining balcony views and nice garden with terrace at the entrance. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Big lockers for storage.
