Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyA few chairs on the terrace would be great to enjoy the fantastic landscape also from outdoors.
Nice remote place in the middle of nowhere - nevertheless easy to reach via a main road, with a good restaurant for breakfast & dinner. Very friendly staff.

SpainIt is way too hot in the rooms facing sun at the noon (at least from may in advnace) but you can open the door whenever you want to get some fresh air.
Good breakfast, small but comfy room, location is close to relevant sights. The possibility to open a door to kind of "balcony" from the room is a perk.

NetherlandsHygiene could be better. Triple rooms are small.
Beautifully located in the vast middle of Icelandic nowhere. Great view. Standard breakfast buffet and the a la carte restaurant serves good food with friendly service. Our triple room was a bit small, with no real space to put your luggage, but they were redecorating rooms with a nice solution to that problem. Beds were very comfortable. The sink in our bathroom didn’t drain upon arrival and the doors of the shower cabin were really dirty on the lower part. When I reported it, it was dealt with adequately. Furthermore you’d expect the room to be a bit more luxurious for the nightly rate they charge.

PortugalNothing major, just the scrambled eggs at breakfast really need some improving, really not tasty which was a bit of a bummer.
The location is really great, close enough to the main road, but with a feeling you're more remote due to the surroundings. Great restaurant, we had a very tasty dinner and breakfast was quite good as well. Good size room, with the ability to step immediately outside to the "wilderness" from an external room door which was convenient to search for the lights and come right back into the room.

United KingdomRoom was a little more basic than expected for the price but given the location (and not much else nearby!) this is understandable
Amazing location, very remote. Huge windows through which we watched the aurora. In a very windy area which was interesting during a wind storm! Lovely staff and relaxing environment Comfy bed

United StatesShower enclosure is pretty tight if you are used to US standards. If you are a larger person you will be against the glass.
Excellent facility and great staff support. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and breakfast was great! Staff were also very friendly and helpful. Location made sense to us because we had an ice cave trip about an hour from there the next day.

United KingdomAs with most of Iceland the food was expensive. The buffet was okay but very pricey for the selection provided.
The modern single story hotel is stylish but very comfortable. The room was spatious and nicely styled. The location directly off route 1 was really convenient but is remote enough to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.

Hotel Fosshotel Nupar kalfafell is a hidden gem amidst nature's beauty, offering a serene escape surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. The well-appointed rooms and prime location provide the perfect setting for witnessing the mesmerizing northern lights. Additionally, the sumptuous breakfast spread and the genuine warmth of the staff elevate the stay, creating unforgettable memories for those seeking tranquility in the heart of nature. During my visit, we experienced exceptional service from the front desk staff, especially night shift. staff When a minor issue arose with our room's lights, a staff member promptly sprang into action, demonstrating remarkable dedication and efficiency. Moreover, he had resolved our room heater issue when he addressed that our room was not getting heated up as the heater wasn't on, as the temperature outside was freezing. Staff swift response not only resolved the situation but also underscored the hotel's commitment to guest comfort and satisfaction. Though the triple sharing rooms were smaller in size, the serene location made us forget about any space constraints, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of our surroundings. Our stay at Hotel Fosshotel Nupar was nothing short of magical, thanks to its idyllic setting, impeccable service, and unwavering dedication to guest satisfaction.

United StatesThe restaurant has a very limited menu (a common thing when in Iceland especially when out of city areas). This is an older hotel; creaky floors in the hallways. The room safe was placed in an inconvenient. The shower is small but gets the job done.
This hotel is a good mid ring road rest stop. There is nothing else around it. The views are fantastic. The breakfast was a good buffet that had plenty of hot and cold options. This is a fantastic location for hunting aurora however they do not offer a aurora wake up service.

United StatesThere was a little confusion on our room number when billing out our dinner. We were told the room number we gave wasn't our room number. It was our room number but we just paid with a credit card instead. Not a big deal.
Staff were very friendly. They supplied multiple outlet adapters. We were given a room far from everyone else so we had lots of privacy. The breakfast had a lot of variety and was good. Great view of the surrounding mountains.
