How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The entrance in to the b&b doesn't really fill you with confidence feels a little tired, could do with a make over. The bathroom is clean but the shower head could do with updating too.
It is a clean very reasonable accommodation once you get up to the rooms. Wi fi, small balcony. We stayed here at the beginning and the end of our holiday. I would describe it as no frills. When you come back late there is a light at the bottom of the stairs to the left of the main entrance, not obvious so letting people know. There is a great steakhouse underneath the b&b highly recommend.

The entrance and stairs into main building little tired, bit of a smell. Easy fix. Maybe add kettle for drink in morning be a nice added bonus.
The room, very clean. Bed comfortable. Nice receptionist. Modern bathroom facilities. Socket both sides of bed. Very reasonable price.

The stair lighting but was given lots of help with stairs
The room was bigger than my living room back home . Wonderful watching sunrise . Top location for everything.

Bed mattress a bit soft and "noisy" bed when moving, and confusion about providing breakfast, but we sorted it :)
Perfect location, big room, helpful staff - gave us recommendations for the nice restaurants :) Also, prepared a small breakfast for us.

Room and bathroom weren't very clean. There were hairs left that weren't ours. There is mold in the shower. Bed is not firm, but plain hard. We missed some atmosphere, a finishing touch
Parking inside on a little square, easy. Big room and friendly reception. Close to the city centre. It's on a busy crossroads, but we didn't hear anything, nor from the construction site next door.

Felt unsafe. Mould in the shower. Needs maintenance. Someone entered the building at 3am turning on all the lights making lots of noise, crashing and banging doors which woke us up. The check in process was terrible.

The building was in a very poor condition. The facility was dirty, the walls needed painting, the furniture was in a terrible condition. At night the place seems scary as it iw situated not at the best neighborhood and you should unlock a central door, in a deserted wing of a palazzo, then to go to the stairs, in the first floor to unlock again in order to enter the facility and finally go to your room

Francesca and her son signor Eduardo gave me the best and the funniest check-in ever. It was late and i got all assistance i needed. The room is spacious, you have everything you need. And location is just very close to the center, perfect for sightseeing.

I came here for my honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect. I left to travel Sicily for 2 weeks and then returned her for another 2 nights before leaving for Rome. Alfio and Francesca were absolutely amazing. They were so helpful and accommodating. We already miss them! If you are looking for a nice, clean place to o stay with lovely people, please go to this B&B

worn down furniture, a smell in the room and outside it, you can directly hear you neighbours since the walls separating the rooms are paper thin

I stayed here with my girlfriend and we were both extremely happy with the helpfulness of the kind staff and the quality of the hotel. The rooms are big and have a great view. The location is super and the hotel lies at a walking distance to the center of Catania. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so this is something we cannot judge. Francesca and her colleagues at B&B Favola Mediterranea did a fantastic job at making is feel welcome. Transport to and from the airport is also offered at a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend to people travelling to Catania!

The employees and boss dishonesty.
Nothing. They gave us the wrong key so we had to sleep on the floor all night until someone on the street gave us a charger to charge our phone and call them. They didn’t pick up the phone for two hours. We spent the whole night on the door step and they never admitted giving us the wrong key. In addition the place was dirty (hair in the shower), there was not hot water, and the toilet flush was not working. They refuse to reimburse us.
