Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe name castello is incorrect, the hotel is actually called villa volpi and has nothing to do with the castle on the other hill. The staff at the restaurant was unfriendly. We waited about 20 minutes whilst she kept walking past, joking and laughing with other customers and completely ignored us. When she finally arrived, she noticed we spoke English, so she ran off again throwing the menu on the table. After 10 minutes she came back and took our order. It was obvious she didn't have either talent or experience in serving clients. She did get friendlier after we started to get along with the other guests in the restaurant. The food was good, but nothing special. Would definitely recommend to have dinner somewhere else.
The view is incredible. The swimming pool is beautiful and the hotel is very pet-friendly. The host Marco is very kind and calm.

Czech RepublicWe arrived to the property (the castle) according to the adress on booking.com and nobody was there. So we had to call the reception by the phone and nobody answer. Little bit later Marco called us and told us we need to go to the different property. It was very unpleasant surprise that we were relocated without any explenation. Then when we finally came to the villa we had problem with AC in our room but the owner wasn't there so we had to wait outside - so the check-in practically took us more than an hour :( I don't know, maybe it's the booking.com fault, but as I said - nobody gave us the explanation.. Breakfast only between 8:30-9:30 Extra charge 5 euro for the pool towels
The view from the whole property is really amazing, villa is very old but very well maintained.

United KingdomStaff is limited, so service can be a bit slow. But this is the perfect place to relax in - so what? Internet in the room was not brilliant.
Hilltop location makes for stunning views. Clever conversion of outbuildings into rooms: ours had the hotel's wine collection along one wall and a huge wine making vat and other associated paraphernalia in it. Unusual to say the least, but fun! And a small private terrace to admire the views. Helpful and friendly owner and staff. Completely peaceful - in the middle of nowhere!

Czech RepublicI have done the booking at Castello di Mammoli, but in the end we were in Vila Volpi, which is the place showed on pictures on booking com. So book always vila Volpi, which is very nice with nice swimming pool. The only issue was a communitaction with people in the restaurant ( only in italian) and no breakfast was offered. Overall a nice place.

SlovakiaThe lack of personnel made our stay not enjoyable. We had to wait for more then one hour for check-in, because there was nobody at the reception desk. Same with the restaurant and the bar. We had to live on our own supplies. Double room we received was nice, the single room was in a renovated garage (you literally entered the room through a garage door). Fortunately they offered us a different single room which was fine. We were warned by the receptionist, that they aren't serving breakfast - only croissants and coffee. It was a bummer, nearest café/patisserie was 3 km away.
The surroundings are really calm and soothing. The views are awesome. The pool was great!

DenmarkLong waiting time at the restaurant and it takes a while before you discover that the bar is actually open during the day, you just have to find someone to serve you. Only a croissant for breakfast and the breakfast was a bit pricy.
Beautiful surroundings with amazing views to the mountains, nicely renovated, welcoming and quiet hosts. Wonderful atmosphere and lots of places to sit and enjoy the magnificent views.

United StatesWe had a little difficulty finding the hotel, because the name advertised was Castello Di Mammoli, which is a private villa. We stayed at Hotel Villa Volpi, which is right around the corner, but was unclear when we reserved. It should be displayed as Hotel Villa Volpi on Booking. We loved the hotel.
The location was amazing, with beautiful views surround the hotel. The breakfast had many options and was delicious. I liked being able to sit outside and enjoy the views while eating.
