How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Clean and spacious rooms with lovely views. A 5 min walk to lake and ferri boats to Isola Bella. A more traditional style hotel beautifully maintained. 10 mins walk to town

There isn’t much to do when the weather is bad! It rained heavily when we were there and the hotel didn’t have any umbrellas we could borrow.
Good location, promenade walk around lake to centre of town. Close to train station (although 10 minute walk to hotel is on the road - no footpaths). Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. Dinner might seem expensive but good value for 4 courses.

The staff was unfriendly. They refused to issue us an invoice for the stay. At our request to leave the car in the paid parking until 12:00, after we left the room, they refused us, although check-in in the rooms is from 3:00 p.m
The hotel is in a convenient location, with a partial view of the sea.It is a 5-minute walk from the boat port to Isola Bella.

The gym facility was basically non existent . The traffic noise because our room faced the lane and the main road but the view outweighed the noise . No beakers/ glasses in the room . There was bottled water in the room fridge which we thought was complimentary but we had to pay .
Friendly staff , the view and central location and dinner was tasty and good value as was the breakfast . We liked the balcony .

Easy location for the train… very friendly staff. Room was tiny but satisfactory for our needs. Thankfully they had umbrellas for guest use too!

The gym was small with not much equipment. It would be nice to have sun chairs by the swimming pool to enjoy the spring sunshine.
Della Torre was very affordable for a hotel in Stresa, an upscale lake town by Lago Maggiore. Our room had a small balcony with a great view of the lake. There's also a cute big dog at the reception!

Swimming pool was closed early and on the date of arrival we couldn’t swim the next day. There is was no information on the booking.com
Friendly and helpful staff at the hotel. Maria at the reception was super helpful and recommended us where to spend a great time a part being in Stresa.

Nice clean room. Good breakfast buffet. If you want to have a seat outside, make sure to either come in early or rather late. Peak time breakfast you might have to sit inside. Especially when hotel is booked out, or in weekends.

The hotel was very quiet in the evenings. There were no facilities to purchase a drink or snacks during the day. The swimming pool area sold drinks, but no snacks available to buy.

- breakfast has little option, everyday is the same, it’s not Italian breakfast but more English with is not suitable for vegetarians - annoying staff during the breakfast, makes the experience less pleasant when running around the tables constantly - Tv in the room doesn’t work with internet - dinner price is too high - AC cannot be turned off, so it’s freezing unless you open the balcony

Only the shower wasn't the best in our bathroom. Everything else very good.
The staff were top notch. The balcony/terrace was large with good view even on level 1. The evening dinner was excellent value.
