Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNothing.
Well. Before we leave, my wife has read some comments about bad neighbourhood, etc etc. They were some young guys offering marijuana etc, but they were friendly, no is no, nobody offended is. In al Genoa, you'll find such things, what you expect from a big port city. Hotel. Really nothing to complain about. Big nice room, clean, bathroom was new, we were really enjoying. WiFi was perfect, very fast. Great location, really few steps from streets with shops, cafeteria, restaurants etc. Next time if we'll be in Genova, we will definitely stay in this hotel :)

United KingdomThe area is okay after a 50m walk, if they could deal with the people directly out the front of the hotel it would be perfect.

PolandThe neighborhood is not clean and safe. Can advice to avoid this place if you plan go outside or back to the hotel in the night. Strangers looks dangerous and streets are dark and narrow to feel safe in the night.
Perfect location in terms of general plan of Genova, good amenities at the room, everything looks that the staff trying its best to make the place comfort as much as it possible in the old building.

PolandNo A/C (had a small fan) - but as we stayed in September the temperature wasn’t bad. The Wi-Fi was slightly poor at times and the corridors could do with some renovation. The location is central but it’s very easy to wonder off onto the wrong street and find yourself in a very suspicious neighbourhood in which I would not feel comfortable walking alone. But Genova gave off these vibes in general so it’s not the facility’s fault.
Spacious room with a comfortable double bed, the room was cleaned with a fresh supply of towels and toiletries. Free supply of water downstairs which was nice.

RomaniaThe location is in an area with very narrow streets where the evening is quite hectic and noisy , but I think that's the disadvantage of having a very central location.
The location is very good, very close to the port and the subway station. There are many restaurants and shops in the area. The room is big enough, you have almost everything you need and from the point of view of cleanliness, every day it was cleaned in the room.

IrelandStaff were really friendly and hotel was small but well kept and great value for money. Location was great for touring the city and was close to everything. The hotel is in the middle of Genova however at night isn’t ideal for women travelling alone because of the small alleyways surrounding the hotel.

SwitzerlandThe alleys leading to the hotel are a bit sketchy. The bathroom had a tiny window that didn’t fully close and the cold ac air kept escaping.
The room is renovated nicely. It’s a very central location in the city.

United Kingdomduring the evening the area was a little intimidating and there were clearly prostitutes who hung around that area (however I have read this is common in parts of Genoa). the rooms were off a central staircase which made it quite loud in the morning when people were in the corridor.
pretty cheap. room was clean and tidy. staff were friendly. they kept our bags whilst we were out seeing the sights on the day of check in and out.

GermanyBut the glass walls/door in the shower in our room had been broken, and the drain didn’t work well, so it was hard to keep the room from being flooded by the shower. If you want to buy drugs or sex, you just have to go to the streets immediately surrounding this hotel. Unfortunately, it sounded like the drug dealers had a loud party every night we were there just below our window, which echoed loudly, which meant we had to close the window for quiet. Except for that, the location is fantastic!
The staff was great, and it was very clean.
