The bed! Not comfortable — only thing I didn’t like about the place. Get new mattresses at least!

Lovely room with an amazing view. The restaurant is wonderful and I also liked breakfast in the garden.

Considering the standard of everything else, we felt the breakfasts could do with an upgrade. It felt a little bit parsimonious, and unimaginative. We know what they can do in the kitchen in the evenings, just a little bit of that touch in the morning would be the icing on the cake.

The room was incredible, spacious, tastefully and beautifully restored, with lots of original and quirky features, it feels like you are a part of history, but the room is still super comfortable. The aspect of the room is east facing, so opening the Juliette balcony at sunrise is a special moment. There is also an original hole in the wall which has been preserved, casting a shaft of light in from sunrise (don’t worry, it’s behind a frame of glass). The staff are helpful, friendly and accessible. The restaurant is superb, with delicious food and superb wines at reasonable prices. We were served by the owner of the whole establishment, he is very warm, friendly and knowledgeable.

Nothing at all! Everything was superb!!

We adored our two-night stay at I Cinque Balconi. The welcome was warm and helpful. Reception is beautiful and sets the tone and ambiance of the experience. Our room was fabulous. It was the perfect balance of rustic, Aeolian charm and the modern. From the decor to the service to the food at the restaurant, there is such attention to detail. We loved the breakfast and how you can order what you want in advance so there is no waste and the offerings can be nice and fresh! The staff were all so friendly, helpful, and professional. We made use of the laundry service and were so happy with the results! Also, the garden is grand for enjoying breakfast or for sitting with an aperitif in the early evening. Finally, the location is outstanding. We couldn’t have been happier with I Cinque Balconi!

Shower doors didn’t shut properly and were quiet worn. Shower itself was dated. The restaurant was expensive but I didn’t love the food. Felt it was overpriced.

    That we didn't stay longer!

Our recent stay at I Cinque Balconi, Santa Marina, Isole Salina, Sicily, exceeded all expectations and left us with unforgettable memories and offered an experience that was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Matina with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. Her heartfelt greeting, "Hello! We were expecting you," immediately made us feel like honored guests. Despite our early arrival, Matina graciously offered us water and personally escorted us to our room. Along the way, she took the time to showcase the hotel's amenities and, with a flourish, opened the curtains to unveil a breathtaking view of the sea. It was an awe-inspiring sight that instantly captivated our hearts. To our absolute delight, Matina had arranged a delightful surprise for us. As we were celebrating our anniversary and birthday, our room was adorned with a bottle of prosecco, two elegant glasses, beautiful flowers freshly picked from the garden, and a handwritten note expressing their heartfelt congratulations. It was a thoughtful and personal touch that made us feel incredibly special and cherished. From the moment we stepped foot onto the property, time seemed to lose its meaning. Each passing hour felt like an eternity, and our 24-hour stay felt like three glorious days. The atmosphere at I Cinque Balconi was cathartic and euphoric, enveloping us in a sense of tranquility and bliss that is truly hard to describe. While we regrettably did not have dinner on the property during our visit, we highly recommend taking the advice offered by the hotel and indulging in at least one evening meal on-site. We heard from other guests about the exceptional culinary experiences they had, and we regretted not having the opportunity to savor the delectable delights firsthand. It's a valuable tip that we enthusiastically pass on to future travelers. Throughout our entire stay, we were embraced as cherished members of the Lo Schiavo family.

Our second visit here and we loved everything just as much ! Location is an easy walk from the port and there are several beaches you can access if you feel like a swim . Our room was spacious and decorated so beautifully combining the traditional aesthetic and modern facilities perfectly, we especially loved our little terrace and breakfast area . Wonderful staff , so professional, friendly and obliging .

One night it was quite cold so I turned up the heating. There was an unpleasant smell like drains so I turned it off again.

A lovely, intimate hotel at the quiet end of the main street. The room was spacious and had a nice view out to Lipari. Comfy bed. The public areas were stylishly decorated. Breakfast was fabulous and they also had a deli which at night became a restaurant. Great food (their house-made multi-grain bread is delicious), wine and service. The thing that sets it apart is the staff. They were all wonderful - the right combination of professional and friendly and welcoming. Diego and Adriana in particular were great.

... the default pillows BUT We found squishier pillows more to our liking hidden in the armoire so we used them the 2nd night. Also, for the suite, I actually think that the standard rooms have better / clearer views of the water than the suite. The privacy and the private patio ambience and the ability to sit outside on the suite patio were well worth it though.

We had the junior suite and it was perfection. They served us (and our friends staying in standard rooms) breakfast on our private balcony. The suite has a private terrace including a sunning bed and some fruit trees that we could pick . View was fabulous. Beds were comfy, history and decor of the building made it even more perfect. The staff was also brilliant. We want to go back!

I Cinque Balconi is Ideally located within walking distance from the Porto Santa Marina. Rustic and clean room facing the ocean. We also picked lemons and mandarine from their garden! Shops all within walking distance. Hiked to Monte Fosse. Absolutely beautiful. The owner Johnny, along with his brother Massimo and staff member Diego, greeted us with open arms. 100% classy people! I highly recommend this property!

It must be the most charming hotel in Santa Marina! Breakfast in their citrus and fauna filled garden was tranquil, we enjoyed wonderful breakfast surrounded in dreamlike Sicilian yard. Every waiter/waitress/housekeeping we encountered was graciously kind and helpful. Attention of detail in the hotel and our room is immaculate: calming scent of linen greets us upon entry of our room, classic oakwood panel windows paired with laced curtain, ceramic blue tiled floor, last but not least grape wine body care products were simply delightful and nourishing after dip in the sea! Interior was tasteful and thoughfully designed. Facing the tyherran sea, our Julian balcony was a wonderful addition to the room, from glorious day to romantic night, overlook atmospheric magical lights come on at night with distant jazz playing from wine bar downstairs. Owner told us he collected objects around the world to dress the hotel. We could tell his personable warming hospitality is favoured and much appreciated by travellers everywhere whom find themselves under his care in this historic family run establishment. Thank you for our casper peppers, your kindness and attention during our short stay! We're grateful for your true Sicilian hospitality. He creates beauty everywhere I see.
