Paola was excellent in taking care of our needs. Arranging for taxi pick up from wharf etc. and was very helpful in suggesting sights and restaurants.

The comfort of the bed for us was quite an issue, we did not sleep very well because of the mattress.. Since we were staying 4 nights that was quite long. For us this was the main issue with this wonderful place! Also note that the internet reception in our room (number 2) was quite bad or inexistent. We only had a good reception on the terrace.

Amazing breakfast in the morning Amazing breakfast terrace and setting. The garden is beautiful. Each room has a private terrace, ours smelled of jasmine in the evening and it was a delight to be received like this after a full day exploring Salina. Paolo was very helpful, nice and recommended great restaurants to us! It was a pleasure to wake up every morning and to chat about our adventures with him on that breakfast terrace in the morning before heading out.

We stayed four nights at Il Geslo Vacanze, Paolo and Gianfranco were really great hosts providing information about buses, maps and help when necessary. The room was great with a magnificent seaview (and a hammock to enjoy the sun). The breakfast on the terrasse were a great way to to start and plan the day ! Overall, a really great stay ! We would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Salina !

It wouldn't hurt to renew the shower head fixture in the room we had.

Very friendly and forthcoming staff (even though not everybody spoke EN). Every piece of advice we were given by the host was spot on. It's located very close to the town centre yet still in a quiet location. The hamak with views of either the sea or Monte dei Porri hanging on the generous terrace allowed for great relaxation.

The only thing which I could find fault with would be that the wifi was weak and not adequate if you were going to try to work from there.

Laid back vibe in lovely location with great views and great proximity to restaurants and town main square and also beautiful beach. Gianfranco and Luciano were both very helpful with advice about travel and places to go and see. The room was a good size with a nice balcony with a great view (including a hammock) and everything worked perfectly.

We had a really wonderful 3-day stay at Il Gelso Vacanze, located in Malfa. It was close to the heart of the village, and also a short walk down some very interesting and safe laneways, past ripe figs, to the local beach (Spiaggia dello Scario (you have to visit!). Giafranco was super helpful, made great breakfasts on the deck, and gave us lots of tips for things to do and see. We couldnt fault our stay.

We truly loved every part of our 10 day stay at Il Gelso. Malfa is a beautiful town and the hotel location was perfect. Il Gelso is a short stroll to the shops, local restaurants and to the beach. Our traditional room was large with a private terrace and had a lovely ocean view. The daily breakfast was delicious and served on the terrace with beautiful views. The room was very clean and serviced daily. We couldn't have wished for anymore. We felt very relaxed and at home here. Gianfranco was a wonderful host; welcoming, friendly, helpful and we will always remember his kindness, it really made our stay. We look forward to returning again and would highly recommend a stay at Il Gelso.

The property was located in a beautiful area in Malfa , the service was excellent , Gianfranco was a great host was very helpful & he organised taxis fir me & made wonderful breakfast , was very welcoming , especially because my Italian was very bad . Gianfranco served us a lovely and sweet breakfast every morning with an exceedingly beautiful view of the ocean ahead and the island's volcanoes, vineyards and flora behind.

The wifi was spotty, but I expect it may be everywhere on Salina, as the satellite data was as well. Luckily, this is a beautiful, secluded spot where you sure don’t need it.

This was a lovely place to stay in the beautiful, quiet village of Malfa on Salina. Quaint antique touches in the spacious room and the large sunny patio with hammock and a great view of the ocean below made us feel like we were at a summer cottage. GianFranco, the manager, was incredibly sweet and gracious. A very pleasant place to unwind and unplug, and within walking distance to the bus, several restaurants, and the small local piazza. Malfa was the perfect antidote to Taormina, which seemed a bit crowded and chichi to us.

There were more options for breakfast than we realised, a little breakfast menu maybe helpful for guests.

Everything was wonderful! Gianfranco is a lovely host, more than happy to help with queries and to provide information, including lending us a walking map of the island. The room was spotless and was cleaned every day, including the private terrace. The room is well equipped including a mini fridge and wonderful shower. The room is large and has everything you need. The private terrace has an amazing view and breakfast is served on a communal terrace. It is only y a 5 minute walk to bars and restaurants but is very quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the wonderful beach. A perfect spot for an early morning sunrise swim before anyone else is up. We would definitely stay again. A big thank you to Gianfranco too for letting us keep our room when we stopped over in Stromboli for 1 night with no extra charge. If you are in Malfa it’s the place to stay.

Gia Franco was an amazing host from providing information about the island, hiking maps, a great breakfast every morning; I normally like a plain croissant but he had some crème-filled that were amazing.
